Aaahhh. But there is not one single item made by ExactRail that I need at any price. They dumped most of their dealers once they got established, as discussed above, thus leaving a very bad taste in the mouth of some of us who strongly suggested the dealers carry their product. I know multiple people who now refuse to buy anything at all made by ER specifically due to the way ER treated their dealers. In fact these dealers still have unsold ER product on shelves even after dealer blowout sales, partly because some customers will not touch it, or the roadnames remaining are superfluous.

If ScaleTrains continues to put out a quality product as the T4, it is not an issue. They are in demand and hard to find in local stores, web stores and even ScaleTrains website. Now they are doing a second run for future delivery. Small brick and mortar stores should be able to sell a number units for a product in demand nationwide and with the use of a website marketing have not problem. If a good product is made with quality finish, and for me superior operational performance, that is the best a company can do. If demand is not there then the manufacturer changes their manufacturing or marketing methods. Good product ScaleTrains and it is on my list to purchase soon.

Aaahhh. But there is not one single item made by ExactRail that I need at any price. It is easy to boycott a brand if you don't need what they make. Now if you really do need ExactRail models and are boycotting them because of a perceived "basic principle" issue, then it's your choice to deprive yourself of nice and appropriate models for a era/geography related layout. Personally, I see no "moral" argument strong enough that I'm going to deprive myself of ExactRail models that fit my needs very well. Many of their models are dead-nuts what I need for typical freight operations in the late 1970's - it's a no brainer. Didn't E-R stop selling whole sale to all dealers when they switched to on-line sales? So in that regard, dealers were treated equally. Anyway, the argument against E-R has been made - put a fork in it. The basic argument doesn't seem terribly different from those who hate the movement from brick & mortar to online sales model. It isn't a far stretch to guess that these people probably get a very bad taste in their mouth when Sears, K-mart, Macy's, JC Penny's, Radio Shack and many others are closing by the hundreds because of the same trend that we saw with ExactRail. The obvious broad trend is pervasively a migration from brick & mortar to online sales model. The same people who are displeased at ExactRail for going to 100% online sales model are likely displeased at other retail business going online too. What good does it do to get angry about it? Ultimately it can become self destructive as it eats away at your health.

If no discount from my LHS then it is no sale, I tell them upfront before I order or buy. I only ask once
I don't give a damm if ST OR ES dumped thier dealers or not. In this day and and age I go for the cheapest price by buying online or direct. There are also many mfgs and dealers who make great product at reasonable prices, that is who I will buy from.
