I was out of the country for about a month with limited internet access. I was able to check my e-mail though. About the third day I was gone, I got an e-mail from Scale Trains saying that the merchandise I ordered had arrived and I needed to pay for it. I could not access Scale Trains Website to pay for the items I ordered. I sent an e-mail to them explaining my situation. They said no problem pay us when you get back. The day I returned I made the online payment. Later that day the items shipped. I received them items ordered two days later in outstanding condition. Thanks for the great service!

My experience with Scaletrains has also be very positive.
Not sure where you were, but I have found you need to be very much off grid to not have internet connections worldwide today. My last flight overseas had a solid connection even out over the Pacific somewhere.

My experience with Scaletrains has also be very positive. Not sure where you were, but I have found you need to be very much off grid to not have internet connections worldwide today. My last flight overseas had a solid connection even out over the Pacific somewhere. I was indeed off the grid. We were on a cruise ship that charged a fortune for internet connectivity that was spotty at best. About all I could do was check e-mail. We also spent a considerable amount of time in rural areas of the south island of New Zealand where there was absolutely no internet connectivity. When on-land, at times I had public Wi-Fi access that was not secured and I did not want to risk sending credit card info over unsecured Wi-Fi connections while I was out of the country. When we got to Australia, even the hotels' wireless internet connections were not secure. I have been burned in the past using a credit card over a non-secure wireless internet connection. In Australia, we went to the barrier reef and tropical rain forests where there was no internet access. Actually, the lack of connectivity was refreshing.

Been there before! I had been awaiting Athearn Genesis D&RGW GP40-2's for months as they were delayed and delayed again, originally due Aug 2014 and then Sept and so on. My wife and I were planning to fly over to England in Dec 2014 and wouldn't you know it, those GP40-2's finally shipped - I think they showed up at MBK in the afternoon bout the time we were changing planes in Paris France! Arrggh!
As most know, MBK doesn't do pre-orders - normally you have to just order when it goes up on the site and if it's something that that sells out fast, and you aren't able to be online, fun's over - you miss out from them anyway. I did contact MBK by phone and explained, hey, it looks like I'm going to be overseas when those come in and can you work with me?
When we arrived on Dec 12, 2014 in northern England, jet lagged, I was able to borrow my wife's daughter laptop and check. Sure enough they had come and gone! As it turns out I was able to call MBK via Skype and they kindly had held the GP40-2's I wanted, and put them up on the site so I could order online. *whew*
It can be challenging getting items when traveling overseas sometimes.
