On May 10, 1869 the Golden Spike was driven by Leland Stanford at Promontory Summit, Utah connecting the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroads.. The site is now a National Monument that can be visited. I believe that the 2019 NMRA Convention to be held in Salt Lake City will feature tours to the site.

I liked how they portrayed it in the show "Hell On Wheels". A race to the end.

And to add to the excitement, the 4014 will be running hopefully to Salt Lake City. Larry
