Hello, here my new track plan for my planned layout at home. The room is 4,35m x 3,60m (14' - 3.26" x 11' - 9.73"). The middle part will be removable to have access to the window. The entrence will get a removeable bridge and the layout hight will be 1300mm (4' - 3.18"). Have fun :-) First the stagging area: Attachments:

I do like the plan and think it will work well.

I agree with Rick. It looks like it will accomodate a lot of different operation schemes.
And welcome to the Rescue Forum!

It's a great plan and it should work out well for you. Stay cool and run steam.......

It's a well thought out trackplan, but I do have a concern with the printing and warehouse track. I've got the same type of situation on my layout, and that's reaching the track at the back of the layout. I make it work and I think you can too, but just keep this in mind when building the layout. I would have been better off if I'd lowered my layout 3 to 6 inches.

Douglas, I understand what you mean. I plan a solid area between roundhouse and the little engine house where I can kneel down to reach the printing and warehouse track in a case of derailment or cleaning.

What era are you going for, Modern? I suppose it's a certain place/feel your going after. Is it one or two railroads your trying to depict? I do like the plan but is seems a little too "busy" if you know what I mean? I might have some suggestions if you could answer those questions. Have you thought about moving the penninsula so that such a big section doesn't have to move at all to acces the window? Food for thought.

It will be modern era, last ten years of Conrail. Mainline is Conrail, the peninsula and the steel district Norfolk Southern (I love their highnose GP's). Amtrak and METRA are for Passenger/Commuter Service and some other Roads will show up with via trackage and haulage rights and poolpower. The peninsule itself will be on special wheels for heavy weights, so it could easy moved away.
