James
The black out on your units looks good also, but I would like to be able to see something inside the unit for a model. The dark window tint is hard to duplicate, but Alclad II Lacquer has a good product that can be spayed on giving a great look. It would require removing the glass. The auto tint is a good option also and if it is not sufficiently dark, you can use two layers. Both examples in this post are impressive.

I used automotive tint sheets, it works great! While this is unrelated to the windows tinting, is this an Overland Ac4400cw? Did you modified radiator wings? It looks thicker than the OMI factory version. thanks

Thanks guys. The tint comes in different colors and shades. Most tint shops will give you scraps, and that will do a ton of windows! My AC4400CW, started out as a basic black Athearn shell. I did lots of detail work and added a OMI drive with the brass fuel tank. I'm sure that's what made you think it's a OMI because it's half OMI. The windows are one of the after market brands. I lay the tint on my cutting sheet, and gently push the window on the tint. Then, with a #11, cut around the window.

I tinted the rear windows in my van, a roll of the material in a parts store is under $10 if you don't want the super dark stuff. Of course, one roll will probably do about 10,000 locomotives, but...
Testors once did make a "window tint" in a spray can, although when I used it was probably 20 years ago or more. It had a bit of a brownish hue to it.

I like the glazing on this one, best UP unit ever! That one looks like it came out of a Hayao Miyazaki Movie. Far out!
