I enjoyed working on my D&H 40' boxcar and around the same time I found some good photos of CP Rail 40' PS-1 boxcars....so another project! Found some CDS CP Rail boxcar decals that matched the photos and picked up another Kadee kit car at my LHS. I made the same mods as my D&H car including not adding the running boards, filling in the holes, adding Plano running board supports and cutting down the ladders on the non-brake wheel corners. I then primed the car with a light gray and then painted it ModelFlex Southern Pacific Scarlet Red. I like this shade and to me it looks better than ModelFlex's Action Red. It has been a while since I used dry transfers and I really don't like them but the CDS set was very accurate and I do not know if there are any alternatives. Anyhow I trimmed the lettering from the set. Taped each image to the side of the car being very careful to make sure they were in the right place and straight. I then rubbed them on using the round end of a paint brush and my fingernail. Worked pretty good and I only had minimal places that I had to touch up with white or black paint. I then clear coated and since I wanted this car to look newly painted for my 1974 era I only weathered it lightly. I always like the CP Rail image and it really looks like a car from the seventies! By the way the photos were taken on my Penn Central railroad. Still have a lot to do but most of my scenery is at least roughed in. The bridge was made from ME girders, Central Valley bridge ties, and the abutments were made from styrene. River is Gloss Modge Podge.

I too like the CP Rail with the "Pacman" logo.
Besides the car being top shelf, your bridge, water and scenery is exceptional.

I used gloss Mod Podge but got fine bubbles in it. It turned out decent but the fine bubbles gave it a cloudy appearance in places. How did you apply your gloss Mod Podge?

Mine does have some bubbles but not that many. Don't shake or stir the bottle and gently spread the Mod Podge onto the stream bed. I were to do it again I might place the bottle in a warm place such as outside in the sun on a 90 degree day and then apply it...maybe the lower viscocity would allow the air bubbles to come to surface?
