Administrators,
Having to fill out a form and answer a Captcha every time you post something is annoying enough, but I just made a post where the Captcha forced me to sit through an ad for baby soap before allowing me to see the Captcha clue. This is worse than the spam it is trying to prevent, and I am tired of being assaulted every day by increasing amounts of advertising for products I don't want or need. Hey, wait a minute, isn't that what spam is in the first place?
If I am going to be forced to view advertising whenever I wish to make a post, the cure is easy, I simply will not post!

Bill in FtL Bill, If you join and set up an account, there is no Captcha for posting. The reason you are forced to go through a Captcha is that you are posting as a guest. Guest posting is more prone to being used by spam bots. Posting from accounts is not. Hence, there is no Captcha when posting from an account. Peter

Peter Hi Peter, OK, I actually did set up an account when the list was first formed some time back. I didn't realize that it was possible to post without signing in (in most groups, you can't), and when I saw I was able to post without actually signing in, I thought the sign in was remembered by the group and I was automatically recognized (some groups do that), sorry 'bout that. However, I still feel like a Captcha that makes you sit through an ad is no better than spam. Thanks for setting me straight... Bill in FtL

I am really sorry but this captcha is a royal PITA - Older people cant understand what the world you want - meanwhile the BP goes up and up - failed three times just trying to create an account. One assumes that what is needed has to be difficult, so one fails to do it right - also - is it case sensitive - that is never explained by these spam bot things - sorry but many of us older people destest such things. Thanks for letting me vent -

Timhar47, I can appreciate how you feel. Even as a Moderator, I sometimes mis-type my log-in info and end up at the Captcha screen. It frustrates me too, but it does help keep some of the spam out of here. It's OK to vent, too. We all need to at times. Welcome to the Forum. We hope you like the place and become a regular contributor.

I had to reset my password to re-join here today - it took several plays (with the speakers killed so Progressive Flo wouldn't deafen me) before I realized that the captcha wasn't appearing at the end of the video like I expected - it showed up at the bottom while it was running.
First time I've ever seen that.... very non-intuitive. Glad to hear I won't run into it again.
