I live in a smallish north Texas town that is about 40 miles away from my favorite lhs. But, they don't have any Tamiya paint, and the local Hobby Lobby only has spray primer. Those that use Tamiya, where do you get it?

Amazon and Walthers to quickly list two that I've used. Almost any on line dealer of trains, planes and automobiles will have Tamiya paint and other Tamiya products. Particularly places that cater to military modelers. Squadron's distribution center is in Carrollton, Texas. No retail sales - only on line or mail order.

Burbank House of Hobbies (in California) is where I get all my paint. They are glad to ship it to you. Good people. They have the full line of Tamiya and Humbrol plus all that Vallejo stuff everybody keeps talking about. 1/87 vehicles too.

For small orders like just a few supplies/paints you've gotta get, I usually go with Sprue Brothers, or Tower Hobbies.

Not sure if this is an option for you but the place I by mine at is more of a toy store than hobby shop. They carry some plastic model kits amongst the toys and legos and stuff, but no trains or r/c.

I get it from Hobbytown USA in Hurst, Texas (my LHS). There's a much larger Hobbytown in Arlington that also carries it. Not sure if either one would ship to you.

Since you are going to mail order, I would suggest either Squadron Hobbies at www.squadron.com or Mega Hobbies www.megahobby.comBoth carry a wide variety of supplies. Mega Hobby carries more of the high end paints, primers and thinners. Decent prices too. Brian

I’ve had good service from Red Frog Hobbies: www.redfroghobbies.comThey carry most brands of Japanese hobby paints and tools. Lots of great stuff available for military and sci-fi modelers that model railroaders often aren’t aware of. Dave

Thanks so much for all of the good replies! I need to go to Fort Worth today, so I'll try one of the Hobbytown's that Ryan mentioned. If they don't have what I want, I'll be ordering from one of the places that was mentioned here.
Thanks again!

Tamiya can be found in almost any real hobby shop in the world. I would say its 2nd only to "Testors" in availability.

The one in Hurst usually has the Fine Surface primers and the clear spray cans, in addition to the full line of paint bottles and many colors of spray cans. If they don't, it's a sure sign I've been there recently. I've been greeted with, "it's in" in reference to Tamiya products before. The one in Arlington is massive, comparable to a Michaels or Hobby Lobby in size. If I weren't five minutes from the Hurst store I'd go to Arlington more frequently.

I went to the store in Arlington and bought a bunch. They were out of so much, so it looks like I'll be mail ordering some also.
Thanks again everyone for the help!

Burbank House of Hobbies is a fabulous store with terrific people. They have the best inventory of paint items of any LHS near me and they will ship to people out of the area. If you have questions about paint, how to apply it, how to weather something, they will give you some good info.
Also, I like Smith Brothers Hobbies in Northridge. It is a few blocks away from Cal State Northridge where I now teach a couple of classes. I am not sure if they do mail order, etc. but they are also a great hobby shop.

Also, I like Smith Brothers Great cough drops. They used to have a sign that looked like the cough drop box, but I think the cough drop company made them get rid of it. They are still a great store.

Noticed that the most recent paper catalog from Micro-Mark lists a full line of Tamiya paint. OK if you can wait for one of their shipping discounts.

Tamiya is also available on eBay with free shipping from Taiwan. Not sure if it's the real thing or a knock-off, but if you're going to be "mail ordering" (aka ordering online) then it could be worth a shot.
I live in the middle of Sweden. Welcome to my world where I have to order everything online.

I live in the middle of Sweden. Welcome to my world where I have to order everything online. Hey, I live west of Washington DC and with all this money and population, I haven't been able to find a good hobby shop so I order most of my stuff online as well. About the only time I purchase anything in person is at the Timonium train show and while there drop into MB Klein. Welcome to your world, which is pretty much the future of buying model train products everywhere. For many of us, the future is now.
