I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet on this forum. I saw it about 4:30 p.m. EST today, Thursday, January 11. The only recently arrived items in HO mentioned -- and M.B. Klein has them already -- are the rerun of 1984 Ford truck "tractors". The new announcement I'll be submitting tomorrow for inclusion in the March issue of the Bridge Line Historical Society Bulletin is three more heavyweight "single window" coaches in the Delaware & Hudson's two-tone gray livery in new car numbers.
Other announcements include more GP7's in new paint schemes and new numbers (among them Bangor & Aroostook in International Orange, black, gray and white with the aqua herald), and more Trainman smallish three-bay Center Flows in new paint schemes plus new numbers for Corn Products International.
Be sure to click on the link to an actual, printable .pdf file of the catalog. I think this is only the second month that Atlas has posted one since the firm stopped producing six-month catalogs. I find it much easier to print and use than trying to navigate the revised website.

I check mbk often and saw the truck tractors. Doesn't sound like any new goodies I need this round, thank goodness. Wondering when the fmc 5503 box cars are due in?

Unfortunately, with the changes at Atlas and on their website it's very hard to anticipate when models previously announced are likely actually to arrive.

I see they finally changed due dates to 2018. Didn't make much sense to have models say they'll be in stock in Q2 2017.

Website revamping for the company seems all too often to be a bane to the customer. I if one could put a monetary figure loss on it since many of us rely on those websites for tracking future purchases. You know what happens when things fall off the radar. Out of site, out of mind and money not spent.

I see they announced a new run of “Classic” GP7’s. Are these the ones with the sill and walkway cast into the frame or are those parts now plastic? Also, none of the drawings on the web page have dynamic brakes. Is this an oversight? The price seems a bit high, given that these are Classics. Any opinions?

Naturally the Rio Grande decorated semi tractors sold out before I even knew they were in stock. But I hadn't been tracking those ahead of time so that was me caught-out. Well, they are 1984 so a little late for me - oh well.
I agree, it does seem harder to track delivery of models. It doesn't bother me that they take so long to make it to market most of the time because I can't keep up with all the new, higher cost, goodies financially as it is,. When things are delayed, that actually frees up funds to grab some items I had to pass up on some time in the past.
I still want to know when things are going to hit the vendors if they are a must have for me so I can try to be prepared.

All Atlas Classic GP7's from the last run on are the newly semi-retooled ones with the plastic sill/steps/pilots and plastic fuel tanks.

Also those BAR Geeps had the squared-off winterization hatches. Likely won't wait on those OR the nose-mounted bells.

I've gotta have two or three of those BAR GP7s. Great scheme! Saw them on Conrail trains in the Buffalo area late 70s. BAR leased them out during their off-season. I think I've even seen photos of them as far west as Chicago. The BAR shop forces must've had them in top shape, as they were on mainline freights and always working hard as opposed to hardly working.

I agree that the particular BAR livery in the newly announced run from Atlas (with new road numbers) was especially attractive -- once the white striping was added. There was an article about that in either RMC or Railfan & Railroad, I think. So was the original blue and gray with yellow.
The BAR had leased diesels to the Pennsy seasonally as early as the 1950's or 1960's. See the paperback history the BAR itself published for its 75th Anniversary.
I saw BAR units in the previous solid blue scheme in Framingham, Massachusetts in the former New Haven yard adjacent to the former Boston & Albany main line decades ago.
Some BAR units ran on the Delaware & Hudson, I think in the International Orange, gray and black with white striping and lettering and white & aqua heralds, but if I remember correctly they were more recent types.

For all the criticism heaped on Atlas here, they should be complimented on listing the UNDEC option among the GP7s, with and without dynamic brakes.

The LNT 9000 trucks were on the most recent container. Mine will be here on the 13th.
Not much too exciting in the January catalog, rerun of 1997 Ford pickups, the GP7s, another run of the Trainman hopper with some foobie schemes. And another run of coaches.

I was surprised to see Atlas has released the former BLMA 64' Trinity Reefers. I saw them at AA Hobbies. List price is now $46.95 up from the previous $40.00 under the BLMA last release. I have always been a huge fan of these Trinity Reefers due to the light weathering and heavy graffiti presence for modeling so I picked up 3 more at the sale price $39.99. Exctrails version is on sale for $44.99 plus shipping. I remember when they were first released by both companies, BLMA had the list price of $29.95 while Exactrails list price was a full $3 more at $32.95. We were paying about $24 street price on them!

Glad Atlas is improving the website to make it more friendly. Now if only Walthers could do that as well. Theirs is horrible and I gave up and trying a number of times.
