Recently finished a new car for my Penn Central railroad and this time is is a NYC boxcar painted in its last scheme prior to the merger with the PRR. The car started with an Atlas (ex-Branchline) undecorated boxcar that I added a new panel roof (made from two Branchline 40' roofs), painted with PollyScale Jade green (with blue and white added). The car was then lettered with a combination of decals including Microscale NYC boxcar decals, PC boxcar decals, and PC/NYC caboose decals (for the correct size logo). The car also had Plano running board supports added plus I used Kato trucks. Finally the car was weathered by spraying on a light coat of weathered NYC green and then weathered the car with pencils, PanPastels and an airbrush.

Always liked the New York Central's jade green scheme. Yours really shows a car that has a few years on it with the jade fading or chalking up a little. Not beat to scrap either like so many of the PC's cars began to look like before C day.

The Atlas (former Branch Line) box car has the odd 90 degree angle tabs on each of four sides which you filed the 90 degree angle tabs on the side sill to match the typical shape. Good job. I haven't been able to find any photo's of what Branch Line copied. Did you also add the roof walk support brackets that Moloco makes?
Nice looking car!

Thanks everyone! The Branchline and Atlas used same mold and the tabs are the same on both. Most prototypes had the angled tabs around the bolster like on my model but the car came with one side angled and one side square. The plastic here is pretty thin so it was very easy to cut the angle in with a fresh razor blade which results in a nice clean cut.
For the running board supports I used Plano etch metal ones. You have to fold them but this goes quickly one you get the hang of it. I just drill a hole next to the molded on one then apply the Plano one right on top.
Oh yeah Atlas uses the same molds that Branchline did but they did clean them up very well and all of the detail parts come without any flash. Branchline cars near the end had lots of flash on the detail parts.
Atlas cars are more expensive but I got mine when Atlas was having a pretty good sale on the undec car.
