I'm not sure how to follow these two posts. Fantastic work, both of you. On another note, the SD90 is really big. There's a step up from the SD40-2 to the SD45-2. I can't explain it, but the 45 is just bigger. Then there's the SD70MACs, and they feel bigger still. But until you climb on an SD90 you really can't appreciate the difference how big they really are compared to everything else. True beasts. Still catch them occasionally as NS units now. I had a couple of those C60ACs dead in tow last week, bound for rebuild at the local GE plant. Shame to see all that big UP power go away. Anyway, I made just the tiniest bit of progress on an old project. My first attempt at a post-80 standard range dynamic hatch as seen on my model of BN 7213 (with Cannon fans inserted into the Athearn rings): Now here's the 3D printed hatch with Athearn's current dynamic fans installed (definitely not as good as Cannon, but not horrible): So the difference is the entire dynamic grid, intake grilles and exhaust fan assembly is shifted toward the rear of the locomotive to accommodate the exhaust silencer. The taper at the rear of the dynamic hatch is noticeably squeezed and the angle is sharper than the original hatch I modified. Not seen in this photo, but I made the bottom of the intake grilles angled to meet the intake opening at 90° like the prototype. I designed the model from measurements I took off one of the former BN units still plying its trade in the yard (this is what happens when you spend days on one of these things and that dynamic hatch stares back at you mocking your modeling attempts). I made the rectangular vent a separate part so its overhang wouldn't cause any surface marring on the dynamic hatch, but I forgot to install it. Where is that thing?

I managed to get a couple of cars done this week. Accurail 40' Plug Door Boxcar kit, removed the cast on grabs and sill steps and replaced them with wire grabs and A-Line Sill Steps. Painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Orange and Oxide Red then lettered with Herald King Decals. Car was owned by MDT (NYC Reefer Arm) and leased to the Reading in the mid 50's. It's primary use was for the hauling of banannas from Port Richmond to points inland. [ Kadee 50' PS1 with Hydroframe Cushioning Kit, painted with Floquil C&NW Green and lettered with Dan Kohlberg's Decals. Car built in 1963 and used in General Freight Service. Thanks for looking! Enjoyed all the photos. Always liked the CNW colors. The UP unit has a wealth of details.
Rick, I have been short of rolling stock from eastern railroads which I know showed up in Montana during the transition era and have slowly been adding some and most are Kadee cars. Love the detail.
I have finished installing all of the Woodland Scenic LED street lamps. It was a real pain in the butt working with the super fine wires, but the result was worth the time and use of colorful words. Now on to installing some interior LED's.
