Beautiful model!
I've gotten pretty addicted to Moloco since I started buying them. I'm trying to figure out right now if any of the recent run traveled west across the Rockies. They appear to be mostly eastern runners from the locations serviced.

Pretty much same for me - 2 at a time or sometimes singles.
I'm hoping Nick finally gets those SP and SSW PC&F Plate B 9-0 box cars announced 2+ years ago out this year as well; those will put the hurt on my wallet!

John, wait...you're not buying the kit? Are you some kind of slacker or something? Hey, I'm just glad these are past my 1968 cut-off. They look like beautiful cars, and I'd have to get one otherwise. Whew!

I like the look of the kit. Impressive. Plus, it is $10 less expensive. Looks to be a total blast to build, might have to buy a kit or two just for the fun of assembling and painting it.

Ordered 4 myself, one Southern, one N&W, one L&N and a painted & unlettered version and then proceeded over to Dan Kohlberg's decal site for some FGE RBL RF&P decals. All to be shelf queens, as these are too old for a modern coal trafficked NS layout.

As always, buy more and save, but you still do need more money in the first place.

Is there a VAT on it there as well as shipping?

Is there a VAT on it there as well as shipping? Yeah, 20%. And that VAT is on the shipping cost too. Plus an £8 fee for processing the VAT... I don't mind paying VAT on the item, thats just the same as what would happen in a shop. I do object to paying VAT on shipping and paying to pay pay tax...
There's a certain amount of economy of scale as shipping multiple items may be cheaper than shipping them individually, plus the processing fee is per shipment, but at the same time I don't have the cash to buy in bulk
I bought one of the B&M RBLs at $56 plus a ATSF Bx-94 @ $33. Shipping was $24 so $113 in total. $22.60 in VAT + $10.40 fee
Total $146 for the two cars, so the RBL ended up costing mejust over $90 inc shipping.
This is not to knock Moloco, their cars are worth it and their shipping is reasonable.

Add to that the exchange rate on the pound lately - my wife (a born and raised Brit) mentioned yesterday the pound had fallen below $1.30 recently. She is on an ex-pat forum and read it there. But I guess that's partly how the Uk pays for the NHS. Maybe you need a friend in the US to procure stuff for you and mail it as a gift?
Whoa. $33 for the Moloco ATSF box car. Oh... it's the late circle-cross and no-circle-cross versions. Great price on that car if you model late era.

Beautiful model! I've gotten pretty addicted to Moloco since I started buying them. I'm trying to figure out right now if any of the recent run traveled west across the Rockies. They appear to be mostly eastern runners from the locations serviced. The SCL (and CSXT) marked "SOLID GOLD" ones made it to California in the early 90s... Besides the reporting marks, they were with different lettering then the Moloco model, and decals are not available.

Whoa. $33 for the Moloco ATSF box car. Oh... it's the late circle-cross and no-circle-cross versions. Great price on that car if you model late era. It’s a brand new repaint for my era, got an earlier paint one already as well as a BLMA Bex-166 Have to think of some transcontinental insulated boxcar traffic for my New England layout...

There isn't an EU / EEC dealer, like in Germany or Switzerland? Enjoy the EU while it lasts... AFAIK Moloco is direct only. There are a couple of Tangent dealers in the U.K. which is useful and the U.K. Rapido dealer within lunchtime walking distance of work. I think Exactrail dumped their European dealers when they got rid of the rest, which is annoying.

Moloco is not direct only. I know of at least three dealers who sell Moloco in the US including modeltrainstuff and Lombard hobbies. Overseas. Don't know.
ExactRail went direct years ago but modeltrainstuff began stocking them again. A couple years ago but at a higher price than E-R direct.
