Hi everyone, like the rest of you I just came over in anticipation of the closing of the Atlas forum. I was never a huge contributor but I really enjoyed the modeling and the discussion.
I do model Norfolk Southern, CSX, Amtrak, and NCDOT in the modern era, and hope to some day build a layout based on railroading in central North Carolina, but right now I just have lots of trains and some test track. I am just 20, and in college at NC State University, and modern railroading is what I have grown up with. I participate in operating sessions at a local layout, and I help friends with construction, track laying, scenery, and detailing on their layouts as well.
I am fortunate enough to be a part of the Sipping and Switching Society, a first class group of people, as well as home to some great modeling and revolutionary modular construction methods. If you ever have the chance, come out and see us some time, we love to talk trains of all sizes, and module building.
Here's to the success of the Atlas Rescue Forum, hopefully others jump on board.

Anthony, by any chance do you get to the Antique Barn over in Wilson? I'm "Down East" in Rose Hill, NC. Been here for 19 years and in NC since 1981. 56 years young for me!! I model in HO scale, using equipment lettered for BN and it's predecessor roads on a fictional branch line, named for my 1st grandson.

Hi Anthony,
I participate in the SoCal Freemo group, but I have been a long-time fan of the S&SS! The 80" minimum radius is awesome! I'm building a 90 degree double track module with a 60" minimum radius. Not as big, but still nice.

I do visit the Antique Barn at least a few times a year, often when I'm chasing 1:1 trains up and down the A-line, its a good mid-day stop, and lunch at Bill's BBQ across the street, or Parker's BBQ just down the road, is a must. I've always liked BN, and would probably model it if I was into western roads, I really like their diverse loco fleet, and all of the B-units! I'd love to see pictures of your layout sometime.

We combined our layout from NC with the Ohio Valley Sipping and Switching Society, and we had a free-mo group branching off one end, that was huge layout.

Anthony, There's not much to see on the layout. I've only recently gotten my building interior finished by a local guy who did a great job for me. I have 2 electrical outlets that need to be reconnected, entailing a hatch having to be cut into my "new" ceiling for access to the junction box. Due to all that, I've managed to get all my layout sections reattached just a few weeks ago. Basic scenery has been added to one small section to get a feel for it, once again. Still need to salvage whatever blue painted backdrop sections that can be saved from the move to this house, a bit over two years ago. My building is 12' x 20' and strictly for the layout, some storage and a small area for one of my other hobbies. The layout probably occupies a bit over 2/3 of the available space.

Might be there were Ohio Valley on that layout at Timonium.
I really need to find a club to join around Northern Virginia since it's getting old not being able to run trains!
