A pair of Atlas 60' boxcars modified for waste service. New Details West draft gears, plano cut bars, Tichy handbrakes and some other stuff. 176 has a 3D printed door. Images Replicas NYCTA R22 subway car, to match one seen in Bush Terminal in 1992: www.nycsubway.org/perl/show?19883 Nice kits, that I wish were still offered. A pair of MTH R15 cars. These still need to get weathered up and covered in graffiti. I cut off the stock bolsters and made new ones, both lowering the car and moving the trucks outward 1' on each end. The couplers were also moved in.

I transplanted the details from the U33C L-window cab I installed on my B30-7 to a 3D printed used-to-be L-window cab. I couldn't save the round vent, so I rummaged through the Cannon nose kits to find another one. After painting I see there are some gaps I need to fill. These gaps are a reminder that I need to use my Optivisor when building models. So I filled them with Bondo and sanded everything down. I also painted the interior, but I have yet to repaint the gray. I'm waiting on a decoder to arrive for this model. When it does I'll install the lights and finish the detailing. I'm looking forward to seeing the lighting effects in action.

Ryan, What interior color green are you using for the early GE boats? Was it darker than a Seafoam green? John

John, I have no idea if what I'm using is correct or not. I'm using a 1:1 mix of Model Master white and Russian Interior blue green. It looks good compared to some samples I've taken from EMD locomotives. I haven't been able to get any samples from GE Dash 7 locomotives unfortunately.

Ryan, Ok, thanks for the info. Did you ever get your scratch built EMD GP60 Demonstrators finished and painted? I remember the shapeways cab you made. Any pictures? John

The Walthers (Proto) cars are...crap. I am NO fan of MTH, but these are pretty good cars.

John This is as far as I got: Well, I did add couplers to it, but it lacks window glass and lighting. Lighting has been a roadblock for me until recently. I started making my own LED/fiber optic lights awhile back, so the lighting problem is in the process of being solved. I have maybe forty or fifty diesels to add lights to, so it's not a quick process.

I'm in the process of modernizing one of the Broadway 6000 gal tanks to model an EBAX car. When these came out, I thought there just had to be something I could do with one. I'd always wanted to do an Ethyl car, so there it was! Frame is about ready to go now, as soon as I get the grabs on and brake detail reinstalled, so it's on to the tank.

Brings back memories of home, and of careening over the SBKN Ry track heading into Costco at the old pipe yard. Keep up the good work!

Ryan, Your GE cab shots just happen to be what i'm working on now. Only mine are 3 Atlas B39-8 cabs. SP of course. I needed the 3 B39's that pulled the super bowl train back in 88? Never thought I would have the complete coach yard set of cars before my B39's were done. More work than I thought. I'd post some shots, but i'm still learning how to downsize photo's for posting. The Athearn Kodachrome SDP45's will have to do for now. Just circa 86 or so. Keep up the fine modeling. John

John, at some point I'd like to get a couple of those B39-8s for my Houston-Dallas Sprint intermodal train.
What I do for the photos is upload them to my pbase.com account full size. Once they are uploaded I have small, medium, large and original sizes available to share here. I always use the large size since the original is anywhere from two to three times wider than the large size. I browse to the photo, copy the link then add "/large.jpg" to the end of the URL and paste it here between image tags.
I'd love to see your Coach Yard cars. Some of my friends model passenger trains and those cars build up quite nicely with skilled hands.

I've been attempting to weather the "hurricane built" hopper. I'm kind of ok with the sides, but the bottom and I'm kinda unhappy about. I've been doing a mix of washes, powders, and colored pencils. I can't get into the ends, so I may end up firing up the airbrush later this week. Going for a late-70s to early-80s look to both of these cars. I also installed sound and LEDs in a pair of genesis Geeps. I added some weight to replace the weight removed from speakers. Found out I can use some lead roof flashing to fill in the fuel tanks and some spaces in locos themselves. However I used some old tsunamis and speakers I had laying around. One sounds pretty good, the other is kinda muffled. I'll probably buy some loksound sugar cube speakers since I picked up 2 loksound decoders on a facebook group

Looks like a LL Proto 2000 4427 hopper. Yup. Got a number still unbuilt that I’m contemplating letting go (2 CNW, a leasor, and an RI)
