I guess I'll get it started today. I hope you guys aren't getting bored with my vehicle models. It has become a borderline obsession. I finished a couple more this week. First up is a 1971 K5 Blazer. Next is a 1966 Chevelle station wagon.

Bored?? No way. Looks good!
I would post some progress shots of my current crop of workbenches items, but I'm at work.
Two KATO SD40's which are going to become CSXT 8404 and 8436 in YN1. I'm going for about 80% on them, not replacing fans or steps, but adding the appropriate details and CSX specific items such as plow, loop pin lifters, mail slot doors, chain hangers on the sill, and batwing ditchlights.
The other project is HLCX 6518 (IIRC) from a Walthers Proto SD45. It's in the phase of finishing the rear ratchet handbrake, and adding the Dash 2 electrical door on the long hood. After that it should be horn placement and pilot detail time.
Really striving to get the CSX's at least sprayed by spring. Not holding my breath..

I agree, your vehicle models are awesome and inspiring! Anytime I find something small to buy on ebay where the item cost is below or at the cost of shipping, I always check the seller's other items if they combine shipping. That's how I found this Atlas Pines trailer decorated for Norfolk & Western. The prototype isn't a match for the Pines trailer, so I made a few changes to get it a little closer: sanded down the side sill to remove the step near the landing gear, removed the Pines trademark triangular gussets at the landing gear and replaced them with braces made from 0.02" rod, reworked the bogie, and did a little detail painting including the top chord of the van body. It could use a little weathering, but another day: I also did some work on this Trail King lowboy. I used the wood parts from a Lonestar Models flatbed to finish the deck. The main thing I worked on this week was powering my B39-8 and B36-7 with printed frames. Last week I showed the finished exterior. Here's what it looks like inside as I was working through the process of installing motors, lights and decoders: Here is the B36-7 waiting on handrails (I used all my 0.015" wire on the B39-8) and red MV lenses:

I'm working on a group of CNW reefers as they would have appeared in April of 1987. Numbers 546044 & 546153 are both Moloco cars, the former repainted in the zito yellow scheme, the latter a patched version of the factory decorated model. Number 33048 is a factory decorated Athearn car which had a majority of the printed lettering removed and replaced with Microscale decals which provide a thinner appearance. Still need to add some chalk graffiti and weather.

Looks like the Solid Gold reefer sustained a little damage along the top door guides. Otherwise it looks fantastic! Nothing wrong with the rest of the cars on your layout, either. Nice job!

It was operations day on the River City Modeler's layout in Spokane, WA. First train I ran was the Keystone Branch local using my ex-GN GP9 and Pacific Pride II GP38-2 as power. Train #591 is a fun job switching cars on the branch and then returning to the yard at Easton. At this point I'm sorting out cars for the logging camp at the end of the branch. GN had their GP9's built to run long hood forward.

Moving sure does take away from train time! I did finally manage to run a train over the weekend (pardon bad cell phone pics): And in the scale I'm supposed to be posting in, I'd like to get my photo diorama finished up this month. Not a whole heck of a lot to see yet, but it's starting to come together. There's still some work to be done on the track, more than I'd do for a layout, but it's a good idea considering the purpose of the project. If anyone is familiar with the Western Maryland at all, I'm using the train order offices at Big Spring and Jerome for inspiration here. There will be a small (closed) office towards one end from one of the awesome Medford Trains kits where I can park a signal maintainer's truck. Other than that, pretty much just a pole line and some weeds/grass in a color that might look natural no matter what time of year it is outside. Once this is done, I'd really like to come up with something resembling a few stalls of the Hagerstown roundhouse.

I agree that the brush cutter is an amazing model. The asphalt paving is also well done.

I know some will spike me to the ties but we really need some RTR track equipment. Those kits are not fun to put together and paint.

Even though there is a temptation to dig out a ball-peen hammer about half way through construction. I hear you on the RTR - room enough for both.

Christian, on a kit like that the temptation to substitute an Atlas cab and chassis would have been irresistible.

Christian, on a kit like that the temptation to substitute an Atlas cab and chassis would have been irresistible. It was actually designed for the Atlas truck. A quick surf through Walthers shows Custom Finishes has nine bodies that use the Atlas cab. Since the Ford fits my era I haven't tried other cabs, But I'd bet that the International and Volvo cabs floating around could be adapted. Plano also made a lot of parts for that truck. On the model is a Plano Ford grill as well as generic mirrors and front feelers. I have replacement strobes, air conditioners and other roof details that I haven't installed yet and should. By the by - don't go looking for photographs of Sperry 805. I combined features from three of Sperry's early Fords for this model. I used a gap in the numbering. Orange is incorrect - I'm modeling a memory I have of one of the Fords coming down a Pennslyvania mountain highway at sunset. Shiny with rain and looking like it had come out of a showroom halfway up the mountain.

I know some will spike me to the ties but we really need some RTR track equipment. Those kits are not fun to put together and paint. They look intimidating but they really aren't that bad once you've done a couple. They all go together pretty much the same. The only time I've had problem is when the casting quality is bad (which is common on the newer production runs) then assembly is a nightmare. But I see where you are coming from with the RTR, definately a neglected segment of the market. I mean nobody wants this thing running around their layout.

I mean nobody wants this thing running around their layout. Actually there are some old guys down at the LHS, RR hats, patch jackets and all, who would LOVE to have that thing running around their layouts!
