It's about time I finished a couple things...…… A couple of shots of a TT F60GH loaded with an M5 Heavy Wrecker and a Cat Grader. Unfortunately, the nice Alkem Models tiedowns are lost in the late afternoon shadows An Athearn General American 2600cf, 1 of 10 built in 1960, these cars seemed to stay fairly clean, this one was assigned to a bakery in Salt Lake City. The model itself is pretty nice, I've replaced the trucks with Kato and added some cut bars.

RFMX 464810 done from the Scale Trains Operator PS 4785, I had to rebuild the end cages to match this particular prototype so I guess I should have just bought the Rivet Counter version. These cars have passed though a couple owners, first to BN in the late 80s then RFMX around 2000 or so. They were pretty common in frac sand service around here, but I think most of them are going to scrap now. Many of these like this one were repainted red by CR with what must be watercolors which then flaked off over the years to reveal the original PC green underneath. Seems to always be bad weather when I have time to shoot my models, which caused the red to almost become invisible in these shots so I will re-shoot this in full sun and re-post it- someday. I remember seeing your models in Wichita a few years ago, Brad. You have some tremendous skills, from modeling to painting to weathering. I sympathize with the bad lighting problem. My wife and I were talking about that today, how this winter hasn't been bad (here in Texas, anyway) but it has been dreary and damp for too long. We're ready for spring! Anyway, I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to see this car in light that can do it justice.

Good morning from partly cloudy, cold and windy Northeast Ohio! Still have not got my painting area set up, and also worked on the mixed doubles bowling tournament this weekend again, but am still working on building new cars etc. Finished the Exactrail 4427 CF Covered Hopper kit, all installed except the roofwalk, which will be added after the car is painted and decaled. Completed an Intermountain FMC 5283 CF Boxcar that will be painted for the SP. Started work on a Rock Island Combo Door Boxcar, used an Intermountain Kit, added Moloco Draft Gear for the end of car cushioning, still in progress. Another picture of my Rapido PRR FA-2's with a traiin composed of mainly short covered hoppers hauling sand/cement. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski

I pulled 3 of my Genesis F89Fs from the stash to convert into TTDX cars, to be loaded with M35 trucks and M557 command posts. I think I'll do an ITTX car to go with them. Further plans for this set are two ITTX BSH12I cars from the Walthers flush deck and two TTDX BSH10I scratchbashed from Accurail. Chain tracks are just temporarily on there for effect. I still need to cut down the styrene plugs once the cement dries. The risers on the yellow cars are a pain to remove!

I did an ITTX several years back using an Atlas 89' and styrene channels with a strip balsa floor. Turned out good with staining the wood with India ink. Been a while since I pulled it out, but if I recall some of the wood started warping and letting go of the glue. Mine was for agriculture equipment

Here is an early car even for my 1960s era. This is a resin kit built from a F&C 1924 4D-XM-1 kit for Georgia Railroad, who subsequently rebuilt these cars into steel sheathed exterior post cars. F&C offers the original cars, Sunshine Models offered the rebuilds, but these are now out of production and no longer available. The F&C kit is a great first resin kit as it has a one piece body. I'll be building a few more, just to keep some variety amongst the heavily dominated Kadee PS-1 fleet.

Here is a photo of my recently completed Western Maryland PS-1 boxcar. This started with a stock Kadee WM decorated car that I prepared for service by painting the raw black underframe and stirrups PollyScale Special Oxide Red to match the rest of the car. To bring the car into my 70's era railroad I replaced the red running board with a galvanized silver one and then simulated peeling paint by brush painting some of the roof with a silver/gray paint. Since this was an earlier KD release the car came with KDs older trucks that had real (but not realistic) springs. I replaced then with KDs newer trucks. I then ACI labels and weathered the car with PanPastels, pencils and an airbrush. KD did a great job on the WM lettering but I did add the striping to the ladders using white paint applied with a toothbrush.

How’d you fade the GN blue like that? I got a similar car I need to do I drybrushed it titanium white mixed with a little bit of gray. I think it's Winton artists oil paint. I just worked it over and over until I couldn't see any brush strokes and the paint was very thin. After it was dry several days later I clear coated it then added chalk weathering, sealing it again with clear lacquer.
