A couple of projects that have taken more time than I anticipated are finally complete. First up is a PS 50ft box made from he Athearn 60' Auto box with Cannon & Co. door. Southern rostered several series of these including former Cental of Georgia cars: Next is a FGE 12' plug door car built around 1980. Southern had these in several number series as well. This car was built using the Walthers NACC car cut down to the sides and resin doors, resin ends, Accurail scale draft gear and Branchline spliced roof added. This is a car I wish Moloco would make as I need several more. I caught the brake wheel in the photo and it will be fixed. These two took over 9 months.

I finished a pair of resin mail Jeep kits this week. What was the kit source, and what did you do for lettering on the old blue one?

Good morning from cloudy and cold Northeast Ohio! Still no painting done this week but more progress on kits. Finally got around to finishing the Rail Yard Models PC G47 Gondola. Added the hand grabs, brake wheel, and brake wheel platform. Finished car with the parts from the 10th level of hell, adding all the tie down loops on the top chord of the sides. Also built an Atlas FMC 5077 Double Center Door Box, that will be painted and decaled for the WP. About 75% complete with a IMRC 4 Bay Canadian Grain Hopper, the Plano Metal Roofwalk will be the last item added before painting. Finally a blast from the past, a pair of C430's with a train of Flexi-Flow trailers on flatcars. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski

Haven't posted much as I've been building the layout. Here's some better photos of my two Kaslo combo door box cars. Both still need weathering. The CN car is another one that would be nice to see in plastic.

Rick Jesionowski A hard lesson learned from decaling the sides of the WP FMC boxcars; Start with the reporting marks/car numbers. I normally start at the upper left, which means if the "Western Pacific" is off, at all, that screws up the entire side. Since the reference points I use from the prototype photo for decal placement didn't translate 100% to the Atlas model, you have to be careful.

Nice work on the G47. I'm still looking for one of those kits myself.

I finished a pair of resin mail Jeep kits this week. Excellent. Drove these for a couple of years. Are these the models that were shown at the Portland (OR) RPM meet a couple of weeks ago?

We had the DJ5-A, which had the tippy suspension, shorter nose, Powerglide, and Chevy Nova 4-cyl.

It is a real shame nobody took over making the Railyard Model kits. Those were hands down, the best resin kit I have ever built, across any hobby. Got a little work done on Mid Michigan Railroad #24 this week.

It is a real shame nobody took over making the Railyard Model kits. Those were hands down, the best resin kit I have ever built, across any hobby. I echo that comment. I’ve built the Railyard Mopac bay window transfer style road caboose; the only distinguishing feature between it and the 2 Bluford models I have is the roof color on the resin kit. There may even be a minor detail or two more on the Railyard kit than the Buford’s. Railyard’s resin moldings were closer to perfect than 99.9% of the injected plastic kits I’ve seen in my long life full of models of all shapes and brands. Truly too bad for the hobby he moved on. 12bridge, nice work on the geep. ( Spellcheck wanted to call it a geek) Is that loco still around? Where does/did it work? I’ve seen the G&W colors on a newer GP Working at King Flower in Lowell and Amway in Ada.

Wow, tremendous work all around! After the UP/WP/MP merger, I believe at least some of those WP GP40-2s made it out to Fort Worth, but they didn't last long in WP paint unfortunately. There isn't a Western Pacific paint scheme I don't love, but this was probably my favorite. I wish some were still wandering around in the late 80s because I'd definitely have to get one. Those Jeeps are outstanding, John. You continue to impress with your vehicle models. The Mid Michigan geep looks great so far. Reminds me I have a BN chop job I need to dig out and finish. Rick, it's nice to see you back at it. Doing great work as always. James and slowfreight, those boxcars are fantastic! I'd love to see more of them. Work has really been getting in the way of modeling lately. I barely had a couple hours to run over to the Great Texas Train Show in Lewisville before rushing off to work yesterday. I believe it's the second year of this show, which is more swap meet than train show, but it's already become my favorite. I picked up a pair of cars for $43. I had time today to swap out the trucks and couplers on the tank, but I need to assemble more Sergents for the hopper.

Ryan, is that a Tangent or IMRC 4750 covered hopper? looks like a Tangent 4740. It is, forgot were the number series broke down. The DRGW 4740 were 15400-15499, while the 4750s are above that in the 15xxx series. Been slaving in the basement mudding drywall so a bit braindead so not counting ribs well Almost used up a fourth 5 gal bucket of mud now. I picked up eight of those Tangent DRGW 4740s last year.

Yes, it's a Tangent RTR. The roof was loose, but I fixed that before running off to work.
