I have a walthers crossing controller and want to switch the photon/light sensors to across the track IR beam break type.
Should I just toss the controller and get a better one, or is there a fairly easy way to convert over sensors?
Or anyone come up with some way to trigger the unit for multiple tracks?

I recently installed the East Coast Circuits #501 Crossing Signal Circuit on my layout. It uses photoresistors, not IR. It works off room light. No adjusting. The photoresistors are installed between ties flush with the ballast. They are light gray and invisible in the gray ballast.
There are on and off sensors for each direction for two tracks, total of eight sensors. After the last car uncovers the off sensor there is a two second delay, then the lights go off.
I used the signals from ebay seller "Wehonest". They are well made, realistic, sturdy.
Here they are in use.
