Been awhile since I started one of these...……... My Athearn ACF 4600, it's a pretty new car for my railroad so very light weathering using a broad soft brush with just a little chalk to pick up some of the detail and relieve the flat appearance (honestly the camera doesn't capture this too well). You can see the seam between the carbody and the roof here as being a bit wavy but the photo is rather harshly lit with just a single large halogen PAR38 lampas the light source, in person its really not so apparent or objectionable. Best, Mark

I took my U33C out for a spin to test out the upgraded headlights. I replaced them with LEDS. ICG/SSW/SP by Matthew Fisher, on Flickr

Good stuff guys. I finished this 56 Chevy Gasser today. At least until I figure out some decals. It started as a model from Sylvain Scale Models.

Good afternoon from partly sunny and mild Northeast Ohio! Just got home from working the Ohio State Women's Bowling Tournament, our local association is responsible for providing the personal to put on this tournament, so I will be busy the next 8 weekends. First Up is an Atlas FMC 5077CF Plate B IPD Boxcar. One of the early IPD boxcars these and the ACF and PS 5077 were the starters of the Railbox and the early IPD boxcar fleets. This car was painted and lettered for the Green Mountain Railroad Corporation, painted with Floquil SP Daylight Red and Scalecoat II Aluminum and Black Paints, then lettered with Herald King Decals. In the next road any road fleet. After a while due to ICC complaints the large SSI was painted out as the ICC referenced the Billboard Reefer rules regarding painting cars. Next up is an Atlas 5000 CF ACF Pressuraide Covered Hopper, Air was used to help completely empty the the contents of the car, there was extra reinforcing to the side and ends. Montana Talc had a small Talc Mine and leased three of these cars to move their product from the mine to processing plants. Car was painted with Scalecoat II UP Hopper Gray and lettered with Islington Station Products decals. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski

Rick Jesionowski I know it's an entire era ago, but it just makes me wonder...who the ^@#$& cares? It was just lettering on a boxcar. And look what followed in all of those IPD fleets.

Been wondering when someone would try it. What mods did you do to the shell or frame??? Thanks in advance It was bit more work than I expected. the main problem is the Athearn shell, which is too short and needs the front and rear decks extended by around 5mm. the ScaleTrains chassis needs to be grind about 1mm on each side so its about the thickness of the circuit board and can slide into the shell unabstructed. If you don’t extend the decks the trucks will interfere with the steps and won’t turn.
