Hey guys, I have a ScaleTrains SD40-2 DCC ready. I installed a ESU loksound decoder version 4 and flipped the two switches on the motherboard to the ON position, however non of the lights would work I even checked AUX1 to AUX4 with a multimeter and all were at 0V while I was toggling the functions. So I flipped the dip switches back to OFF and now I only get voltage on AUX1 and AUX2. Any ideas of what’s going on?

Did you use a Loksound Select or V4.0 decoder ? The factory Scale Trains engines use the V4.0, the Select doesn't have enough function outputs to control all the lighting.

Its a Loksound select from a Rivarossi U25C, but it should have at least 4, right? right now I only have access to AUX 1 and 2.

The Select decoders have four powered outputs - front headlight / rear headlight / AUX1 / AUX2. There ARE four additional logic level outputs, but they require additional circuitry (usually on the motherboard) to control them.

Those engines require a v4.0, or else not everything will work. I've found you can get most everything to work, if you leave the dip switches alone. IIRC, headlights front and rear, and class lights will work--IF you fiddle with the settings.

I also measured AUX3 to AUX6 outputs directly on the chip pins, all 4 have 9V present all the time and they can not be controlled.
