Kinda sounds like some kind of Hiawatha.

Definitely a Hiawatha. Likely the Olympian as they seem to imply Super Domes.
Not sure on the trio of bells, but with a Super Dome the diesels are likely FP7's. The Erie's were pulled off of it before the Domes were delivered.

The Erie's were pulled off of it before the Domes were delivered. Morning and Afternoon Hiawatha also had Super Domes. Looks like Walthers is finally dusting off the Twin Cities Hiawatha cars with factory applied grab irons like they did with the Great Northern Empire Builder and Santa Fe Super Chief.

Yawn.
At some point, Walthers will need to actually cut some new tooling if it wants me to buy anything. Or maybe put useful paint schemes on things they've already made. Phase III Hilevels? Amtrak Pines series? Metroliner cab car?

Wow. For a moment, I thought they might be doing the NCL ("rolling GREENhouses" and "three passenger units"). Dodged a bullet, there.
But I see the train is to be legendary, not new.

Demand is there for a re-hash of this train in orange and maroon as well as UP yellow and gray. I'll be all over this anticipated announcement like ducks on a june bug.

The Super Domes were built for the Oly Hi. They ended up on the Morning and Afternoon, along with other trains like the Varsity, later in life.

No matter what train they decided on lots of people would be disappointed. You can wait forever for the train you want done, buy brass or do what I did.
When Walthers put out thier passenger cars years ago I bought them, of course they aren't exactly the cars I need but they are a good alternative.

We NH fans got tired of waiting. Our historical society has paid half the tooling cost to Rapido for each stainless steel NH passenger car and our members have so far purchased 2000 coaches and 1500 parlors through the NHRHTA. Diner orders are currently piling up for a June deadline, and if these sell well enough, we might eventually get our combines, grills, observations, and 3 kinds of sleepers.
If you really want to see a model made, seriously think about involving a historical society.

Bravo Paul, I certainly appreciate all that the NHHS has done as well as your input regarding NH equipment on this page: 3 coaches, 1 parlor and 1 diner waiting for me soon!

They are beyond my finances as well. So, the Rivarossi stand-ins soldier on. And really, they do quite well under the "Viewed from 3 feet away" test.

I'm about to dump twelve or so loco's on eBay to save acorns for at least a two of this brass run. Ex DL&W Budd classic stream-lined kitchen Dinner #770 and tavern lounge Phoebe observation #789. Stand ins will be Rapido's past run of EL coach's & sleepers. Long Live the Phoebe Snow & Lake Cities!!!

So we get a re-run of an already done train, and a 4th maker of a locomotive already done 3 times. How original.

Well, good news for everyone who bought a BLI Milwaukee 261 and needs a Skytop and Great Dome for their excursion train. Still out of luck on every other car, though.

There were 10 Super Domes built. Two each were assigned to the Morning and Afternoon Hiawathas, and the remaining 6 were assigned to the 6 trainsets for the Olympian Hiawatha. When the OH was discontinued, they were indeed used on the Varsity, but also were used on the Cities trains for a time, before some of them were sold, along with the Creeks and some sleepers, to the CN.

The two excursion cars had been done already, but as has been mentioned, they are (or, were, now) demanding high prices on the auction site.
I would have liked to have seen one or more of the other paint schemes applied to the cars, along with the lightning stripe E7's with the retooled bodies.
I'd also like to see the FP7's in the 60ABC-64ABC road numbers, as they were used in freight service, in both orange/maroon/black and orange/black schemes. Those units spent a lot more of their service lives in those numbers than the 90-94 as-delivered numbers that all of the manufacturers have beaten to death.
Marty
PS. The NP had a couple of FP7's. And Slumbercoaches. Just sayin'...

I pulled the term from Joseph Strapacs' Rio Grande Diesels Vol 1 where he dicusses Rio Grande two SG equipped F7As. He said dare we call them short FP7s? He dared. 30 lashes with a wet noodle!

NP had two REAL FP7's: 6600 & 6601. They went to BN as 9792 and 9794. They were bought for service on NP's trains 61/62 (St. Paul and Duluth) and 11/12 (St. Paul and International Falls).
NOT for the North Coast Limited or the Mainstreeter.
GN had a goodly number of boiler equipped A-unit F's. At least in a GN diagram book, they were called F's.
