Yikes. Someone already bid on that. Never seen a brass caboose with molded-on grabs before. Maybe that's why someone bid on it...because it is so rare?

Yeah has a bid on it. Priced at $295. Can the bidder not tell it's a plastic Athearn caboose with wheel wipers added for lights.

Wow.
No.
WOW!
May I suggest you write to the seller and ask him to clear this matter up. It'll either be LOTS of laughs (my vote) or he will actually be embarrassed at his big mistake (it COULD happen).

Most definitely an Athearn RTR.
I see the auction has a bid.
Someone should contact the seller.

The bottom looks to be plastic, I think someone might have kept the brass model and made a knock off from a blue box athearn caboose. The seller may not even know it’s possibly fake.

I did message the seller with link to Athearn same caboose. I got a message back claiming it is indeed brass.
My eyes must be cheated by a spell.
Got another message, seller is rechecking. Pictures can't be right.

Seller sees the error and is taking it down. Down now.
Edit. I didn't recognize the seller at first but I bought some Tangent and ExactRail hoppers from him last year. We chatted and he is a former railroad employee nice guy. Turns out this listing must have been a brain fart. Was glad error caught. Otherwise would have been fiasco. Crisis averted.

Hopefully the seller had just managed to swap boxes and wasn't himself scammed. I see somewhat similar things happen with what are presumably estate listings... things in swapped boxes mostly.

By a strange coincidence, something similar happened to me last week. I purchased a "new old stock" E7a from that auction site at a good price. It turns out the engine was not the engine it should have been. It was the right engine, right manufacturer, even the right road number. What was not right was the electronics inside, which would be impossible to tell without putting it on a test track and trying it. The good news is, I thought I got a (meh) Paragon 2-equipped unit, but instead got a Loksound-equipped unit. While the one I got was older, and no longer under warranty, there is much less chance of a problem with it. Plus, it sounds and runs better than the one I thought I was getting.

Hopefully the seller had just managed to swap boxes and wasn't himself scammed. Turns out seller had the Omi box and used it to store the upgraded with lights Athearn caboose. He has an an excellent feedback rating and was glad the Mistake was caught quickly.
