Does anyone have any other sources they use for prototype photos?
I have this so far: rrpicturearchives.net rr-fallenflag.org railcarphotos.com trainpix.com (really only good for BN/BNSF locos)
Trying to find more sources.

Locophotos.com is a good one. You have to create an account, but it's free.
Railpictures.net can be useful as well, although more geared toward the photography side.

The question is kind of broad -- any particular prototype topics you are interested in?

flickr.com facebook.com
You can actually search on Facebook, but you need to be a member of any private or secret groups if you want hits from those groups to show up in the search results.

for passenger car photos: passcarphotos.rypn.orghere's another freight car site: www.trainweb.org/nwrp/main2.htmGN/NP photos here: www.gn-npjointarchive.org/default.aspxThere are, of course, those "book" things. For GN, there was/is a great 3 volume set published by Four Ways West. In fact, there are a fair number of "color guides" for various useful railroads. I've got over 20 of them. And then there's the occasional "who knew?". I picked up a copy of "Chicago and Northwestern Final Freight Car Roster"--lots of photos. Books are good. Ed

Be aware that Google doesn't index all of the sites listed above. But they do hit many others, so overall it's a win.
One tedious approach that has worked for me on occasion is to do a Google image search for reporting mark and road number. Of course, this works best when there aren't so many numbers to go through... but it doesn't take so long to go through 100 numbers.
