I'm currently redoing a quartet of Altas Trainman RS-36s Gold with ESU sound, hard wiring all the electrical lines and ditching the black plastic clips, replacing LEDs with small LEDs and adding sugar cube speaker and KAL-2s.
Does anyone know if there are outputs on the board for ditch lights? Thought of adding nose mount twin lights that flash with the horn. I've done that with one of my RSD-15s and it's a nice effect. Ditch lights are mentioned in one of the info documents I could find. That's quite a project in itself
Thanks in advance if anyone can advise.

Edit .... They use the 21 pin decoder.
Not sure if there are traces on the motherboard for the extra functions, but the decoder is definitely capable of doing it. On the 21-pin socket, pin 13 is AUX3 and pin 4 is AUX4. Locte the pins on the motherboard and see if there are any traces from those pins to where you solder your lights to. If you're good, you could even solder right next to the 21-pin header on the appropriate pin.
Having a programmer will help huge in activating and utilizing those two outputs which aren't active currently on that decoder.
Mark.

Thanks Mark, I’d figured you might have a good idea on that.
I direct wired the KA-2 to the 21 pin board and they work fine.
I’ll check the board as you suggested.

A lot of people are using a Decoder Buddy and the less expensive LokSound 21-pin sound decoder (21MTC group). The Decoder Buddy is intuitive, quick, neat and well documented. Installers use them a lot. All the lighting functions and more are directly available for LEDs 8 outputs on the original and 12 on the V5 Decoder Buddys.

Nick You're a new member here and so far, every one of your posts is pushing your decoder buddy in everyone's face. I'll admit they are a great product, but it appears you are only using this venue to push your product. Mark.

I agree. It’s indeed a good product but certainly not what I need for the project this topic is related to.
BTW: I have a couple Decoder Buddy’s that I will be using in the near future on a couple of projects for all the reasons stated.
