I have a friend who has a Lenz system that has a rather odd recurring problem - his command station will randomly decide that a function on a particular address will not work. It's not a matter of a function switching to non-latching, you press the button and nothing happens. If you switch the locomotive to a different address the functions start working again, if you take a locomotive that's already working and change it to the address where the functions aren't working the functions stop working and if you reset the command station the functions will start working again. About ten years ago, someone at Lenz told him that the problem would be fixed with a firmware update so he sent it in to them, got the firmware updated, had to replace most of his throttles afterward because they were no longer compatible and the problem was fixed... For about six months. He purchased a new command station about four years ago and the problem went away again... For about six months. The addresses affected by the problem are random, but it's usually F0 and/or F1 that stop working.
He's running repowered On3, usually only one or two locomotives at a time, with a mix of Tsunami and Tsunami 2 decoders, and has three boosters providing power to the layout... I'm not sure what the amperage capacity of the power supplies is, but I believe it's more than 3 amps apiece.
Anyone have any ideas on a fix besides going to a different system? (I've already suggested this)
