Looks like for DRGW, labeled "late". I'm looking for details but guessing these are PTC 1985+ versions. I'm waiting for pre 1985.

Yeah, real bummed to see DRGW again with no ditchlights. Maybe next year.

May be they are shooting for the middle ground and missing those of us on the early and late ends. Hopefully better luck on run 4. Down side to waiting for later runs is prices continue to go up.

8301 has EUGENE on the equipment box doors. Late 80's, SP sent some remotes to the Oregon division, as they had forgotten how badly 1st generation Locotrol worked in the mountains, and this time they needed to try it on the Siskiyou line. Two derailments later where the helpers kept shoving when the head end suddenly stopped, the experiment was over.

Is that when an SP accident spill lots of nasty stuff in the river? It was big news as I recall.

There’s a great anecdote over at Trainorders about a remote that went off in a river during one of these experiments ,and when the headman went back to get a look at why the train had gone into emergency he could see the UDE light glowing underwater. Lol.

The D&RGW are too new for me, I already have 6 T2's as it is. They were not all that common on the west end in their early years being primarily in Moffat Road coal service. I will say that I really like the ones I have, set up with a TCS Keep Alive decoder they are easily the best running engines on my roster, great job on them Scale Trains!

Lol. That was when the 8302 derilaed at Klamathon, CA on the Klamath River bridge. First SD40T-2 to be retired.

True, and I'm modeling west end as well although stretching my time period a bit later when more of the tunnel motors appeared to be making it further west. I could be tempted to add a few more ScaleTrains tunnel motors if they get around eventually to doing pre PTC versions. Don't the ScaleTrains tunnel motors come with what they call Power Packs factory equipped?

The ones I have were ordered as non sound DCC ready and I bought the decoders through Scale Trains as a separate item, it's probably the same as the DCC+sound units. I'm just not into sound units.

Same here for the two non-sound versions - Lokpilot decoders from ST. I'll see if they end up needing keep alives.
I'm installing Tam Valley Frog juicers on turnouts to power the frogs so hopefully that will mitigate the need for keep alives in most loco's.
