Hello all, I have a Rivarrosi y6b. I would like to remove the tender shell and, can't remember how I did it before. Anyone that would be willing to impart this knowledge greatly appreciated.

When they were made by Rowa in Germany, you could push on the tab beween the lower rungs of the rear tender ladder and the shell would release. At the front of the tender there are two tabs, on the water legs. Once the rear tab is released pull the shell up and slide forward to release the front tabs. It was difficult then (shell is a tight fit). However, when Rivarossi started making the Y6B, I think they started gluing the shell on, making it almost impossible. I know my RR Y6B is glued on, like the 2-8-4 and Big Boy tender shells. Some have suggested heating the shell in hot water to break the bond down. Freezing was another idea I read about to break the glue bond. Also, maybe your's isn't glued, try it, but damage to the rear tab and ladder hole is almost a certainty. Good luck, Charley.
