Good morning. I was able to get some train time in yesterday. I got my BLI 2-10-4 back from its second home at BLI's repair shop on Friday, and spent a couple of hours running it and tweaking the settings. I discovered for whatever reason, the traction tires that it came equipped with pretty much suck. I removed that driver set and installed the drivers that have no traction tires in place of them. Running was much improved, though pulling ability suffered quite a bit. I think part of the reason is the center driver is the main geared driver, and the one with the traction tires is the rear driver set. So, in order to counter this, I put Bullfrog Snot on a wheel on the fireman's side directly ahead of the main driver, and on the engineer's side on the wheel directly behind the main driver. I would rather have put it on both wheels of the main driver set, but since it is the center of a ten-coupled engine, it has blind drivers. We'll see if my idea works, or if I will have to remove the BS to keep the engine running smoothly. Digitrax still has my Zephyr Xtra, we'll see what I get back in the mail from them. MRC still has the sound decoder that blew all the light bulbs in my FP45, then did its own little imitation of Chernobyl. They say they are sending me a "new & improved" replacement. We'll see how that goes when it gets here. My Bowser C628 should be here tomorrow, so I'll have a pair of big Centuries. I got it off the closeout table when I went there a couple of weeks ago, but waited until I got home to pay for it. Shipping was cheaper than sales tax, though not by much. Other than that, today is my wife's birthday. I'll be taking her out to dinner later. Have a great week, everybody.

Good Morning Terry and the rest of the Forum Folks. A Happy Birthday to your wife. The sun's out in SE, NC. I did get out back with the trains for jsut a bit last night, but until I make a "dent" today in getting the Christmas cards ready to be mailed, LD says, no trains. That's the 1st order of business. Then have to go to the store and exchange a jacket my son bought, as it has an incomplete seam on a sleeve and a hole in the left front pocket. At 20, he hasn't yet learned to look something over closely, before laying down the green. We may get to 76F tomorrow, which would break a record high for the date. It will moderate later in the week, then get chilly. Terry, hope the bullfrog stuff works out for you on those drivers.Lots of incoming locos to test out and get set up. Unless I find a really good deal somewhere, (though I have my eye on another undec, BLI switcher at the hobby shop in Wilson) my next motive power additions should be those Walther's SW-1's I have pre-ordered. I'd best get to those cards!!

Sun trying hard to come out all day but I think it's a loosing battle. 2 church services this morning, another this evening, all candlelit and a nice warm wood fire in a very old church. Should be nice. Calling for some heavy weather tomorrow, hoping school is not canceled as I have plenty of work to do in the office and with the family around, it's hard to concentrate.
Parts keep coming in the mail, almost time to get off my butt and do some modeling.
May your tracks be straight and your grades be easy.

The BS seems to be working. The engine rolls along much more smoothly. It will only pull 31 cars+ caboose on my layout, versus 45 with the lopsided traction tires, but most of my trains are 10 or so cars long anyway. The long train was for R&D only. My wife enjoyed her birthday dinner, and I found out a model railroad friend will be dropping by in a couple of weeks for n overnight visit. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow at work, it's inventory time, and I've spent the last week playing The Count from Sesame Street. Inventory should be done in another couple of weeks, just in time for Christmas.

It's a beautiful day here, but I'm still going to go up to the model room and run some trains. I'm probably in a lot of trouble with my N scale commuters. My last operating session got cut short, and I left my commuters stranded.

Fortunately, I was able to get almost all the Christmas cards done before noon, then made the run to the store to make the coat exchange. Watched some football, then ventured out back for some train running. Going to be at least 3 long days at work this week and on Friday, LD has some plans for us. I know I'm working Saturday, so any train time now is pretty much out of the question. Terry, I sure hate it for you when it comes to inventory time. At least the BS seems to help. 31 cars & caboose isn't too bad on most any size layout!! Greg, here's hoping the weather holds for you. I have no parts in the mail, just some wrapped up, waiting for Christmas day. Douglas, the last time my HO commuterws got stranded, was when the loco gave up the ghost while on the main. Had to send out a switcher unit to retrieve it and bring it in. Still don't have the F-unit repaired and back in service. Not sure if it's a decoder or motor issue yet. No time to troubleshoot it. 74F today and 76F on tap for tomorrow. We're going to pay for this, I'm sure!!
