Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there! A Genesis GP39-2 showed up at my door the other day and I wasted no time popping parts off. This will become MKT 380, the former Kennecott Copper 779 diesel with high clearance fuel tank and modified cab and nose. Here I've mocked up the parts placement of the new 3D printed cab with Cannon interior, modified Cannon 81" nose and 3D printed fuel tank. I have to strip the model before I can really get started, but I've already filled in some of the holes from the horn, old nose and exhaust silencer. Other modifications include adding a new flat inertial hatch, clean air room access door, new radiator fans, B sideframes with clasp brakes and small anticlimber on the front. From the time these arrived at the Katy through the UP merger they remained in yellow paint with deep yellow/orange patches. MKT 380 was sublettered with an OKT herald as seen here: rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1626671Here's the beginning of the build:

These always fascinated me in their original form, so neat to see them in life #2.
My SPF posting has been quiet as I work on some other projects in 1:1 scale, but a few things have made steady progress--particularly the Walthers circus train I started back when it came out in the early 90s. Building the train was easy. Finding and building enough wagons is more challenging.

I was not prepared when I saw the real thing for the first time, or honestly anytime after. Truly a unique experience to behold. I really miss that train coming to town and camping out in the yard for a week at a time. It was a lively little mobile town in its own right. It's tempting to build one of the Kennecott GP39-2s as-built - I drew up every variation I could find on the cab windows and the short hood - but I really need to stop finding new projects and finish some older ones.

Way late to the party.........Was really doing other stuff yesterday. It was sunny a week or back and while my usual fave place is still closed I am at least near the Marina in downtown Des Moines, WA. Here's the F60CH all finished, very clean with a load of pipe by Proto - Loads. Here's the F60KH with some rolled aluminum pipes. The Rio Grande Gon..... An oldie, one of Nick Molo's super cool General American RBL's.

Managed to finish some stuff this last week. Athearn Chemical Tank Car kit, painted with Scalecoat II White and Black paints, and lettered with Oddballs Decals. Spencer Chemicals was purchased by Gulf Oil in the 50's for their patents on Nitrogen Fertilizer and Anhydrous Amonia, this car is used in the transport of Nitrogen Fertilizer from the chemical plant to farm IMRC 40' PS1 boxcar kit, new A-Line Sill steps, painted with Scalecoat II Black Paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. The N&W purchased 2900 of these cars in the 1953-56, this is a car from the 1953 lot with Superior Doors, I am showing this car after its 1972 repainting and removal of the roofwalk, but having the full height ladder at the brake wheel end, along with a roof grab. Stewart U25B Kit, added drop steps, Utah Pacific Lift Rings and A-line sun shades. Painted with Scalecoat II Wabash Blue and Silver Paints and lettered with Microscale Decals from a couple of sets. The Wabash ordered 15 U25B's in 1962 as replacements for the 15 year old F7's, these went to the N&W after the 1964 merger. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski

Ignore the background. I liked the outdoor lighting. Display and Lines West MILW Class A station by George Toman and the early and late GP20's converted from Proto GP9's with Lines West kits. Station is done in the early 4 color paint scheme used into the '20's to show off the detail better than the later grey schemes. Need to add some 4 light beacons to the Geeps yet.

What is the fixture between the ground light and the bolster in the rrpicturearchives picture?Mark Vinski I have no idea. Looks like a pipe bracket without a pipe in it.
