My club has one and it's been a big disappointment. I can't get it to record any loco speed over about 50mph or so. The reader wheel slips when the loco driver spins too rapidly; when you push down on it, the indicated speed increases until you push down too hard. I've tried using tape and even Bullfrog Snot on the reader wheel and nothing seems to work. There's too much friction in the sensor and it overcomes the friction from the loco driver and the sensor wheel.
It was a great idea but it falls down in actual use.
