Did Kato make a UP 2-8-2?

There is one listed on the famous auction site and I am interested. I don't recall ever having see one before.

Are they good units?

The UP 2-8-2 Kato Mikado was an earlier run Mikado. Basically they are good locomotives. They don't come with traction tire drivers and that is a must with any Kato Mikado. Kato no longer produces the traction tire drivers and they are very hard to find.

I bought two or three UP Mikado's years ago on the above site and fortunately they all run without any issues.

I would look for an undecorated version and decal it Union Pacific. The newer runs of the Undecorated Mikado's are excellent. They have the detail parts already added.
