It remains unknown what exactly became of the CN PSC tooling. It was never mentioned in the Atlas acquisition announcement, some say the Chinese factory may have it. No word on the TLT MP36/40 either. Hey thanks for saying that. I've been curious about the caboose and the MP36 (but now a little less because I preordered an F59) and I couldn't find anything specific anywhere. I really wish someone from TLT or Atlas or whoever has it or knows about it would speak up.
TLT is unlikely to say anything - if the tooling has been sold then it would be up to the purchaser to make a comment when/if they want.
Also unknown is the tooling for the CN Northern steam loco, though that one might not be missed - and depending on the cause of the issues the tooling may not be worth anything anyway.

I don't model anything this modern but that's a pretty good looking unit, I like CN's paint scheme and variations best of what's currently out there.

Looks like the front railing and vertical hand holds are twice as thick as the vertical hand holds leading to the cab door. Are they like that on the prototype?

The hand holds on the cab sides are the same rod stock used for the grabs, which is a thinner rod than the 1" diameter rod used on the handrails.

$209.99 and $309.99 (ESU sound) is not bad for these.

So everyone is OK with oversized front handrails and six inch thick translucent windows? Looks like it. Another poster says the front handrails are thicker in real life too though.

So everyone is OK with oversized front handrails and six inch thick translucent windows? I do agree we need realistic, thin and flush fitting translucent windows in HO, but it appears to be very hard to do. If you look at the Bachmann Chargers, those windows are just as thick, while being much bigger.

Be great if the sides of the windows could be painted black from the factory on everything.

Somebody.... was it "Run 8"? Used to make window kits for various HO engines, Athearn and the like. They were vacuum formed thin plastic. I never saw them installed in an engine that I remember.

The 'glass' on the production model will be clear. Exterior standing parts like the end handrails are a fine balance between being durable while still looking good, and being close-to-scale but prone to warping and breaking. I except the production end handrails to be slightly thinner too as they won't be hand-painted. The truck sideframes are also not painted on this one. Do they have to shipped from Canada or do you have an US outlet? Last but not least, do you have other Aurora products we can buy here at US, such as the DF5? thanks

That sounds right. I liked the AMB laser-cut affairs better. They were a press-in fit, but I always liked to secure them with a little Future brushed around the perimeter.

Ben, when and where can we buy these? Do they have to shipped from Canada or do you have an US outlet? Last but not least, do you have other Aurora products we can buy here at US, such as the DF5? thanks We don't have too many listed US dealers right now. When the order deadline of the SD60F is announced, we'll let US customers reserve it directly with us if they wish. The plan is to have a portion of the models shipped to the US and then distribute them there. Products designated for the Chinese market I will be able to get a handful of each, and offer them for direct purchase as they become available. The first run DF5 switcher is mostly sold out so will need to wait for re-run. The DF4B (mixed-use) and DF4E twin sets (heavy freight) locomotives are also being made. The current cover photo on our Facebook page is of the production DF4E and the sample SD60F. Ben Wang Aurora Miniatures

It was Run 8 yes. I saw their name in a Model Railroading article. It didn't take long for those things to turn yellow (from UV exposure maybe?). By the time I was ready to install them I discovered AMB Laserkit's acrylic windows. Far superior product.
