Athearns loss, Rapidos gain! Matt did great work at Athearn, they will miss him. I just recently emailed Rapido asking for Amfleets and Viewliners and was told Jordan would love to do Amfleets! So here's hoping! Matt will certainly expand Rapidos capacity, and hopefully expand US based products. Hopefully Athearn can find someone as capable. |

Wow, this certainly is a surprise. I can't help but wonder what is wrong at Athearn/Horizon that so many have left over the last few years.

Really interested to see what kinds of things he will be working on with Rapido, since for the most part the things they have made to date wouldn't really be in his wheelhouse.
This is a big loss for Athearn, Matt was a driving force behind a lot of the bigger projects they have done in the last few years.

Ah, that explains why his name is not familiar with me as I haven’t worked with him before as it seems he worked on mainly modern locomotives. Hopefully he works on 70s era equipment and is a good fit at Rapido. Would be great to see the export (to the U.S.) 4650 cuft cylinder grain hopper. What did he do at Athearn - what projects can be credited to him? SD80MAC, SD90MAC-H2, SD70ACU, Genesis Dash 9, just to name a few |
