Briefly, I added rotary beacons to the green Aux 1 wire on two different LokPilot 4.0 decoders. On the first one, I set CV 275 to 7, just like the manual said, and it worked beautifully. On the second, no value in CV 275 changes the performance. I did a factory reset and no joy. Whyyyyyyy? I have had decoder problems like this occasionally, and the only thing that I can figure is that it's because I use the hand-held ESU controller and program things that way. No JMRI available, no other brands at play but ESU.

It's possible the second one is a different version. Without the programmer, it'll be more difficult to track down which cv you need to change. You would think a Lokpilot 4.0 is a Lokpilot 4.0, but maybe not. I know it won't help you this weekend, but you may have to wait until Monday, and give ESU a call.

IIRC, the LOKPilot STANDARD does not support beacon function. Bob

It's not a standard. It's a 4.0. Bought at the same time as the one that gave no trouble.
Perversity of programming....

A friend with a LokProgrammer can show which version of the firmware is in each LokPilot decoder. They can also be upgraded which may help to have them perform identically.
