Anyone know if the Rapido B36-7 is set up for sugar cubes?

Rapido typically uses iPhone speakers.

Sorry but I can not justify the difference in sound for the cost of the Scale Sound dual speakers at $34. That compared to the $0.99 I pay for the iPhone speakers and the almost $300 price tag of the loco itself. I am not saying the sound is not better but not at the cost. Plus all my recent purchases are DCC ready.

For $300 the speakers should be better than those subpar iphone speakers. After hearing them in the B36, I can't figure out why people like them so much. So how are you going to change the speakers in your phone if they are that bad? Also I have watched his tests and all are done with the shell off. A lot of designs are for having the shell on the model. The first time I tried to use a sugar cube speaker that was recommended for a specific model it sounded great with out the shell on the chassis. When I put the shell on the loco I could barely hear the sound, even the horn could not be heard. I replaced the sugar cube with an iPhone speaker and you could actually hear the sound. This is a preferencething as well, what one thinks it good enough does not suit someone else!

If you look at the speaker in an actual cell phone, it usually is encased in its own enclosure. That enclosure isn't just some generic box, it is specially designed to take the fullest advantage of that particular speakers harmonics .... much like the old Bose speaker systems. That's why Rapido uses the actual i-phone speaker enclose and not just a generic box. Try opening one of those factory enclosures some time, it's actually quite interesting in that it does have wave channels and discreet pieces of foam to absorb and amplify frequencies. I use the HTC One M8 speakers exclusively in my installs and think they sound great .... Mark.

Look, I don't care what you can and can't justify, I was just offering an alternative solution. I've installed the Scale Sounds speakers/baffles in several different models and the result has been better and louder sound every single time. In particular, the difference in the B36 sound mentioned in the original post was dramatic. So how are you going to change the speakers in your phone if they are that bad?
