It’s funny, since we started this conversation the availability of 1970’s and 1980’s vehicles has exploded considerably. We had a list going in another thread. Just a few examples from the past 18 months or so: 1973/1975/1979 Chevrolet C10 Pickup (CMW) 1972 Camaro (Brekina) 1980 Caprice / Impala (Rapido) 1979 Ford Country Squire (Brekina) 1977 Lincoln Continental Mark V (PCX87) 1980 Jeep CJ-7 (PCX87) 1987 Caprice (Brekina) 1984 Corvette C4 (PCX87) Off the top of my head, lots more coming from Brekina / PCX87. GMC General just came out, with tons more 1960’s-1980’s trucks coming too.

Great lot of70's and 80's vehicles coming out, especially trucks. The Brekina GMC General (one of my favorite prototypes) is a disaster ! How did they manage it. Front axle/wheel way up under the fender, it cannot be placed level and look right, fifth wheel to high, windshield size, split fuel tanks. I have disassembled my first one and am figuring out how to improve it. I will get more but with the amount of work required I will keep these to a minimum and put the time into other projects. I love the look of the Brekina trucks but they all, so far the K100 and 359, have some fidelity and proportional issues. They do have good bones though and will make outstanding models if you are prepared to put in the work. I always say it is better to have a model with issues that can be worked on (think Rapido) than to have no model at all. Sylvan Models are bringing out the GMC 9500 long hood with options and a International 9670 Cabover.

I always modify every vehicle I get (Plano gets tons of my money), in this case I like to use Herpa/Promotex fifth wheel hitches. They just seem to mate to trailers much better and sit right. My only complaint is the Brekina stuff is fully glued, sometimes to an overzealous degree. Overnight in the freezer seems to help bust everything loose..

I just wish Brekina would do the trucks without the sleepers as well. They'd be much more useful for urban modellers such as the majority of us are.

I've got a great Holland fifth wheel that looks gorgeous but there's no way to make it pivot. I'm going to change that. It might require drilling a small hole and inserting brass wire to join the two parts but I'll make it happen. Here is the glue-it-in-position version: ![](https://pbase.com/mecrharris/image/173192360/original.jpg) As I get these Brekina models in hand I'll be designing upgrade parts for them. They are nice out of the box but they are also a good starting point for a detailed foreground model.

I saw a facebook post showing I think Brekina with a 1980 Ford LTD station wagon (think Family Truckster), a mid-late 70s Eldorado convertible and a 1965 Mustang fastback.
