Wonder if they'll change the axle/gear arrangement to cut down on the gear splittlng... The newer Paragon versions of the I-1 have not had the gear splitting problem the first run had. Hopefully BLI has learned their lessons with gear splitting. ---------Ken

I managed to get an unlettered one from the first run - the only one I could find without noise and hence a lower price. It runs ok, but it really doesn't pull all that well. I have an old Penn Line I1 that could probably drag three of the BLIs with room for a caboose. I think the best puller of all of my BLI steam locos is the PRR J1 - it's a monster. I actually think it will outpull the N&W A, but haven't tried it head to head. The Niagaras are all right, pull better than my $1000 brass one. And don't short out on the curves.

There were 3 runs of the I-1. First two runs were in a larger red box. The last was in a smaller red box. First run was in the 090 number series. Second was in the 880 series and third was in the 2055 series. I had most problems with the first run in the 090 series. I did have one bad gear in the second run and none in the third. ----------------Ken
