For some reason my grocery store hasn't had RMC or Railfan the last couple months.

White River has done a great job with TRP. I’m sure they can do the same with Diesel Era.

You can now buy Diesel Era subscriptions from the White River website.
The White River Facebook page has had a posting about Diesel era after April 1st, and Diesel Era remains currently the image on the banner of the White River Facebook page.

I am kind of surprised Diesel Era is still viable to be honest. While I will always be a big proponent of the not everything is online mantra, when I am working on an engine, chances are in about 15 clicks I will have all the photos I could ever need.
Model Railroad News is another that I am not really sure how/why it hangs on. The minute it hits the stands, its already quite outdated. But hey, whatever works for them. At least its not a tabloid anymore..

I was hoping they would use a magazine fulfillment service and that international subscription rates would be reasonable (akin to the RMC rate). But $120 for one year?! 30 bucks a 64-page issue? No thanks.
By comparison: RMC is $69 for an international subscription versus $44 for domestic. Diesel Era is $42 for domestic, so international should be around $66.

Regarding prices, perhaps an email asking and at least providing feedback.
But given that their prices are the same as the prices via the previous owners it is possible that they either haven't updated the prices, or they are stuck for now with the existing print/fulfillment contract and any improvements will need to wait for that existing contract to run out.
As for Diesel Era being viable, there are still a lot of people who like physical in part because they are tired of looking at a screen all day for work. The White River method of operation (very small full time staff with no office space as they all seem to work from home) makes some things more viable than the Kalmbach method of large staff in a traditional office.
