I just can't get excited about online shows. But I guess it will be interesting to see what Atlas has to announce.

Maybe they’ll announce they fixed the issues with the ACF 5250, but the new cost is $100 per car.

I got this email too, but I'll be at an actual live in person train show, one of the two not cancelled for the spring. Which is okay by me, I'd just as soon come home and find out what it is and not wait around to hear them announce live.

Call me jaded but my first thought was that the O scale announcement would be ex-MTH tooling.

It's the 2011 Ford Explorer in HO! Yes, I know I'm crazy, but that would actually be more exciting than anything else considering how many are actually out there in the real world.

April 17 would be the most appropriate day to announce a Mustang model.

I wish I could get excited about an impending Atlas announcement, but for the past few years, I just get anxious about them releasing a model that I really want, but it has big, clunky coupler boxes, or molded-on grab irons and other heavy plastic details, with an MSRP over $50. Their FMC boxcar series has been the one big exception, so I hope it's something along those lines.

Wouldn't necessarily call that all-new, and they have already announced the first of their O Scale MTH releases last month.

All new tooling HO U33C? They've really been getting into the U-Boats.

Obviously it is their new P30CH.
I predict by the end of the year, Scale Trains, Rapido and Athearn Genesis will have joined Atlas with P30CHs of their own. This is a great time to be in HO Railroading!

Well, it's good to have goals anyway! A guy can dream. After all, the SDL39 is becoming a reality. The question is, will the Kraus Maffei beat the P30CH's to market or visa versa.

Well, technically, Jim, the Krauss-Maffei already hit the market a long time ago! I’m mildly apprehensive that Atlas will unveil a new AC4400CW series. I’m pretty happy with their Dash 8s, even if they don’t include as many separate details as current releases. However, I think ScaleTrains has plans for the AC4400CW, and will do a great job of offering all the variations, so I’d rather see something else from Atlas. Dave

Dave, True, but that ain't no good to most these days. So basically moot.
For me, after many years of buying D&RGW trains ranging from the 50's to the mid 1990's, narrowed my time window down a good deal so the KM is not on my shopping list. I also passed on the (admitted very nice) Rapido Ski Train passenger cars since I have stuck pretty religiously to caboose era for new purchases for the past 8 or 9 years now.
As for modernish wide-cabs, I've noticed they are majorly dominating the new engine market for the past few years so that has limited the new engine market for me a good deal (not to mention easing pressure on my budget). If/when a high fidelity GP30 and/or GP40 is finally offered, that's gonna hurt.

A GP30/35 would be nice. I'm tired of waiting for ST.

A GP30/35 would be nice. I'm tired of waiting for ST. I'd love for ScaleTrains to do a GP30 but they seem to be too busy pumping out modernish wide cab loco's or now stuff from MTH tooling that is of no use to me. Still I'd much prefer ScaleTrains do a GP30 than Atlas.

Oh please not Atlas to do a GP30/35. I think we'd step back on level of detail that current locomotives have based upon their past 4-axle releases. I'll gladly wait on Scale Trains or even Athearn to do the GP30/35 long before Atlas. A GP30/35 would be nice. I'm tired of waiting for ST.

Oh please not Atlas to do a GP30/35. They'd have good handrails though. Not something we could count on from ST or Athearn.

*shrug* my C420s look great. Maybe Atlas does Alco's better than EMD's. I recall their redbox GP40 had an incorrect cab slope angle for many runs. Then GP40-2 isn't bad looking but there were complaints about the cab side windows. They the plow is wrong on the GP40-2 for D&RGW. Sure it can be replaced but these things are examples of how Atlas is NOT Scale Trains.

...ScaleTrains...to be too busy pumping out modernish wide cab loco's... cough...SD45...cough, cough...SD40-2...cough...SDL-39 A few bright spots to be sure. But I wonder if the more common SP SD45 and DRGW SD45 will be delayed by MTH stuff as well as the many wide cabs?

My guess is it'll be the same freight car or locomotive in all three scales. Seems like the right move.

Here’s hoping it’s a U33C or U36C.
