Sometime recently, I read an article about using Caboose N scale ground throws for HO. The article modified the ground throws to make them look better and less conspicuous. I remember the article mentioned fastening them to the layout using O scale spikes. I cannot remember where I saw this article. Can anyone help? It was not the article that appeared in MRH a few years ago.
Thanks.

I use Caboose Hobbies HO ground throws for my Shinohara Code 83 switches, which are off-the shelf. The gap between the open point rail and the stock rail is about .13. The throw of the ground throw is .19 and they seem to work perfectly.
The throw of the N scale ones is .135.
Might that be a problem for you?

On my current layout, I mounted them on the front edge of the layout and ran a linkage back to the switches. This makes the reach easier, but since I still feel they're too large for HO it takes the emphasis off.

I’ve used the n-scale caboose units for ho with no issues. I also now mount most ground throws near the edge of the layout with a wire inside an imbedded tube running to the throw bar of the switch.

I use the 218S designed for HO and N with 0.165" travel. It is much smaller than their regular throws intended for HO with 0.190" travel. They also come in a more economical five-pack (5218S).
