Just finished weathering my P&LE/NYC 50' cushioned boxcar so decided to post a couple of photos of it. Car started with a Branchline 50' boxcar with fishbelly sidesills and an 8' door. To match the P&LE car (built by NYC's Despatch Shops) I reshaped the sidesills, added 10' wide Kadee doors, added extra short ladders at the corners, added a Plano running board, running board supports, and end crossover platforms, and then finally added Moloco draft parts. The car was paint with a mix of Model Flex colors (per Model Railroad Hobbyist's paint conversion chart) to come up with a NYC green color. I then lettered it with a K4 Decals set made for this car (and other P&LE 50' cars). Lettering was not opaque enough for me so I just doubled up the lettering made easier since the set comes with enough to letter two cars. The car was then weathered appropriately for a late Penn Central era using pencils, PanPastels and an airbrush. Looking at the photo I realized I forgot to mention I also Tahoe's excellent 70-ton trucks. One more photo of the car in service. Looks good in a Penn Central Train! Finally here is a photo showing all the modifications and details added.
