Bobby,
What was the base car for this build? I really do need to add one of these to my southern fleet.

The custom brass end cages did it for me! I have several Athearn BB 4740cf hoppers that could really benefit from this type of detail!

Hey Bobby, can you explain how you formed the brass end cages? (Materials/construction process)

I'll be happy to! I used angles from a co named specials shapes. Sadly they're no longer in business! You still might be able to find the stuff you need. I used 3/64 and 1/16 for the cage. I simply looked at the proto photos and measured off the model for the length. There was no soldering involved, just cut and glue! I used a pin to hold the uprights too. It's kinda like drawing a picture, you just fill in the blanks. Brass angles bend very easy, so the only bend was easy to do. Drilling all of those holes for the grabs was a chore, you just have to take your time and back off when it becomes a pain! I hope this helps. I'll be glad to answer any questions anyone has.

Lehigh Valley had some similarly extended cars. I'm almost surprised Bowser hasn't tooled up a version like this. Car looks great.

What kind of wheels are those, they looks as skinny as the rails themselves and what did you use for trucks?

Neat model. I can only imagine what the prototype was like in terms of harmonic rocking.
