I have 2 Atlas RS-11 shells since I'm still not to familiar with HO after being in N for 20 years I'm not sure what's the best models in HO with the RS-11 these shells look pretty good separately applied grabs ect are these accurate also would a yellow box drive work with these shells?

The Yellow Box drive is from Kato and yes it will work with them.

This is a China model with a Kato/Atlas yellow box drive and trucks in it.

Seems like the coupler attachment is different on the China shell so if there's any fit issues it will be at the ends.
The Atlas is not bad, but it's a circa late-80s tool that was later updated to separate grabs. It's one size fits all, not even a non-dynamic version for it. That said it doesn't have some of the errors the Rapido has.

My big gripe with the Atlas is the pudge-oh handrails.
A fantasy project I have/had is replacing the Atlas deck and handrails with the P1K ones.
As is, I've ordered three of the Rapido, and am hoping for the best.

If your up for super detailing this classic, try KV Models recent release of their Alco RS11 Detail Set. kvmodels.com/kv-322h/ set - KV-322H "This set has parts to detail that HO scale Atlas classic Alco RS11. Included in the set is aftercooler piping, aftercooler screens, side intake screens, exhaust stack screen, handbrake wheel and lift rings. This set works well when used in conjunction with the KV-317H Radiator screen/fan kit which is available separately. Below is an instruction sheet that will help out with the assembly of the aftercooler piping."

Also, I believe Scott at KV Models is working on the RS-11 Handrail and end Stanchions, soon to be released. His metal etched parts are amazing, best out there.

Ed The Rapido RS11 looks fantastic, but I have read and heard of the drive not being so great and that they are a cluster F to take apart. I would probably get some if they offered them as disassembled undecorated kits. I am not a big fan of factory painted and assembled models. The handrails on them do not bother me anymore. Same goes for the Kato GP35, SD40 and 45. I could have cut them apart and put wire through them. Not worth the time and effort to me anymore. I do believe that photographs over emphasize their size. I look at the model and they look just fine. I look at the photograph and they seem to jump right out at you.

Essentially all N&W RS-11s had 3-window cabs (except the ones inherited from the NKP). In addition, the N&W RS-11s had louvered filtration "boxes" applied over their car body air intakes. The Rapido model incorporates these unique details, the Atlas and Proto models do not. The N&W RS-11s also had a different sand filler configuration which the Rapido model captures.

Rapido fixed the shells to be one piece on the second run models. Some feel the radiator fan is too tall. There were issues with the motors in some first run models too. I forget the other things people didn't like. I had a pair but sold them as I didn't like the color, lots of posts about that so no need to reiterate here.
The biggest difference is price, it's not hard to find Atlas for half a Rapido. Less, if you buy the older yellow box models.
Speaking of which, the frame and drive is the same on the Kato drive RS3 and RS11, the 11 has larger weights and different fuel tank is all.
