As someone who has run a red signal and rear-ended a Santa Fe 4-8-4 (in HO), I can endorse the concept completely.

Luckily, it was at a slow speed, so there was no equipment damage. And the crew was on lunch break. So I got off with a lecture about paying attention to signals.
