I got mine Thursday here in south central Wisconsin. 3 days was a lot faster than I expected. These ARE excellent cars! Waiting for Chessie. Steve

I tried to place an order on my work computer, and got the spinning blue wheel of death. Later that day I placed another order from home. I already emailed Tangent to let them know my card was charged twice but I only got one receipt. Could be an antivirus program running on my company's computer that caused an issue with the initial order.
In any case, if they send me a third car I'll be all good. I already emailed Support and requested one ICG car to go with my other 2 (paid for) orders.
I can't be as naughty as some...

October 19, 2021, at 1:54 p.m., EDT
For those who want to buy the new paint schemes in the latest run of Tangent's excellent models of Greenville-built hi-cube auto parts boxcars, they're now shown on M.B. Klein's website. I didn't notice any of the SP cars with new numbers. I haven't yet checked quantities; they're too long for my layout.
Have fun!
Steve Wagner
1:59 p.m. Just did a quick check of the lowest car number of each new paint scheme. Quantities in stock range from 3 to 6 or 7, but purchase of each is limited to one unit. No SP cars shown,

The SP cars sold out quickly yesterday (Oct 18) after the Tangent cars were listed yesterday at MBK. I think they were gone within about 3 hours. I checked when I got home after work and all were sold-out. *poof* I wonder if Dave might do a 3rd run since whatever he did went so fast - I imagine some people lost out again if they weren't Johnny on the spot. Some may have been bought on speculation too I shouldn't wonder.

Well, I ended up with one each ATSF, ICG, and NS.
Although Tangent's photos are quite excellent, it is hard to believe, but they are more impressive once you get them in your hands!

More excellent cars, I ordered 1 ATSF, PRR and ICG. Glad to see the ICG but would have preferred Illinois Central, Mainline if Mid-America in orange of course. Maybe down the road it will come. I may be wrong but I seem to remember that this was the 3rd batch of SP's to sell out this fast. First 2 runs I think had the same numbers. These really sell out fast! Maybe another run in the future? Still looking for Erie Lackawanna cabooses!

Bruce, I think the SP were only ran once before and that was August 2020: www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?3,5077105,page=1 After the second run of Greenvilles, Dave commented that he would re-run some of the popular road names that sold out so fast, many customers were not able to buy them. So this last (4th Greenville run) included the SP re-runs. The previous 3rd Greenville run included reruns of the the Conrail, DT&I and Southern, and also PC but original PC rather than repaints.

I'd imagine we would see the Cotton Belt cars next, instead of the SP again.

You are correct riogrande, this was the 2nd run of SP's. I knew I might be wrong. If I remember the first time they ran out of SP's a few days later there was another one available "warehouse find" listed and I got that one. That is were I thought there had been another run, must be getting older and forgot! Waiting for EL cabooses!

I missed the first run too, so I got a tip there was a shop on the west coast that got Tangent models in and called him. He was able to put me down for two and got enough SP in to sell me 2 numbers from the first run.
I only bought one light blue DT&I from the first run but since they were really common on the Ford FAST, I wish I would have gotten two. One day long after they had sold out, I saw a DT&I available in a different number so I grabbed it.
It must have been like you warehouse find of the SP. Occasionally I've seen other Greenvilles that were sold out show up for sale as a single. CSX, Conrail both, but those were too new for me but it does happen.

The quad doors will be in high demand B&O, Chessie and SP, who else had Greenville quad doors EL GT maybe?

Not sure about the Greenville Quads, but the EL Quad door Hy-Cubes were all Thrall built, not Greenville, nor were the PC quads, all ex- PRR Thrall built. I'd like to see someone produce the Thrall line of Hy-cubes.
Also someone please produce the 60' Greenville Auto box cars, EL had a bunch (series 67700-67724) & I'll buy a bunch.

To find items that are high sellouts or otherwise scarce, I recommend trying some of the dealers out there. They don't always receive the models promptly, and people don't always know what they have or don't have. Look on the west coast for eastern models, etc.
I have experienced good results in the past with this tactic for hard to find models (including but not limited to Tangent 86' box cars). I routinely frequent websites like the Original Whistle Stop, Western Depot, Hiawatha Hobbies, Spring Creek Hobbies, Train Station (in Ohio), Lombard Hobby, and Mainline Hobby. I could perhaps name others but some of them only order enough of these high end cars to essentially serve retail walk in customers.
Some time ago, MB Klein sorta became a crapshoot. They may have photos on their website, but since many people seem to shop there FIRST, they tend to be gone.
Specifically, I have had really good success finding the box cars at The Train Station, but since they sell on Ebay, some would be getting scarce or gone now that we are a week past initial announcement.
Happy hunting!
P.S. At the end of the day I just can't 100% embrace wide cabs even in my favorite color of orange, and will just be buying what I like from now on. That includes more of these boxcars, and also the slightly more mundane Atlas Minnesota Commercial C-424 that just arrived, which I love like an old friend. That is no reflection on other manufacturers. I have had really outstanding engines lately from both ST and Bowser, and also just picked up a nice Rapido Conrail B36-7 (need to have Conrail for when my buddy comes over--at least that's my excuse--I love the evil red trailing class lights).

True about MBKlein. They tend to sell out of high demand items quickly. I am in northern VA but happened to be a hobby shop on the west coast Oregon or Washington, who was able to provide me with 2 SP Greenvilles. He did have an online store and was old school, so I had to handle the order all over the phone but it worked and I'm thankful.
Sometimes I wonder if being on the east coast would be an advantage to a western modeler. Occasionally I do make some finds at Timonium for example, but probably shops on the east coast don't order much western stuff either cause here it's CSX, PRR, NYC, N&W, NS, WM, etc. that is regionally popular.

Western road modelers tend to be everywhere. Years ago I knew a local guy who was a big BN fan who last I knew had moved to Virginia, and one of my local customers is also a big BN guy and buys a lot of mid-range stuff.
I think you're right to a degree that there will be more western road guys in the west because people tend to model what's around them, but you're more likely to find deals on regional road stuff in odd places. For instance one year at Springfield I picked up several nice N&W and one Southern engine for cheap prices, $40-$50 a shot, including a one off high hood C425 (Atlas with Bowser parts) with all the hard work done. In Indianapolis someone consigned a batch of Anthracite roads stuff and I bought an LV C420 one year and a CNJ SD35 another, both for much less than they would have sold for on eBay.
The old school guys who don't do eBay are going to have these things around longer, too. Just because there's fewer eyes finding them.

The reason I am into western (SP and D&RGW) is because that is what I watched from 1967 - 1984 when living in northern California and traveling up via Donner Pass etc. The D&RGW become of interest on a number of trips though Utah and Colorado. And where ever the wind has blown me since then, in recent years northern VA. Been a fish out of water for years.

The EL quad door hy-cubes were an interesting (and small) bunch. They were assigned to Chevrolet in Indianapolis on the N&W. I've always wondered why the EL would have cars in a GM pool because they didn't have any GM assembly plants on-line. Granted, Fisher Body in Mansfield OH was one of the bigger EL customers, but almost all the cars to/from Mansfield were 60-footers.

Just got my six NS cars and one IG - beautiful models, as always! I can't completely justify these cars, because it looks like it was primarily CSX, CR, and GTW cars than ran to the GM plant in Baltimore that I'm modeling traffic for, but I love both those schemes. The quad doors will be in high demand B&O, Chessie and SP, who else had Greenville quad doors EL GT maybe? GTW had at least one group of Greenville quads, GTW series 305700-305849 built 12-69 to 10-70, Order 983. RailcarPhotos says some cars went to CNA 798011-798102 in 1974-83. Here's one I photographed in 2003, repainted in CN's website scheme but still with GTW lettering: GTW 305837Here's one in the as-delivered scheme (I think) with silver doors: GTW 305754And one photographed by MG Lovis on 7/10/97 in Linden, NJ with blue doors: GTW 305767This is the lone CSX Greenville quad that I've caught: CSXT 179348I'm going to get crushed when the Chessie scheme shows up on the current model, and then again if Tangent does the quads...
