Ryan, Your reefer units look great!
Any chance they could be purchased in the future? Any ideas for decals for them?

Ryan, Your reefer units look great! Any chance they could be purchased in the future? Any ideas for decals for them? Thank you! And yes they will be for sale soon. I am working on a website in my spare time. Hopefully next year I'll have everything working. I have no idea on the decals. Maybe N scale container and container chassis decals might be a good starting point.

I decaled this Moloco car for FGE leased to my freelanced Coal River. Kohlberg and Microscale decals.

Had hand surgery ten days ago, so I have not posted much, but I thought I would share a background industry this week. If you have driven on the 405 freeway in Van Nuys, CA, you can't miss the Busch Brewery at Roscoe Boulevard. I am attempting to recreate a selectively compressed version of the brewery on my layout as a backdrop industry that will take lots of hopper traffic. I have completed the first phase, but there still is a lot to do. The first picture shows a panoramic view of the facility. I still need to build the bridge between the two towers near the top. I need to put concrete around the tracks in front of the facility. The model currently sits on a sheet of Homasote. Here is a side view of the facility. I really had to reach over the layout to take this picture. The view in the picture is much closer than what someone would see from a normal vantage point. I need to construct all of the unloading racks over the tracks, another tall structure at the end of the tracks and some more tanks in front of that structure. The signage was made with homemade decals. The aluminum tanks were made out of PVC sprinkler pipe couplings. The four in the rear were 1 1/4" couplings with an end piece on top, while the one in the front was constructed the same way using 3" couplings. The four taller towers under the Bud Light sign are a Walthers kit. The buildings are made out of .8" thick styrene sheets. The piping is a combination of steel rods, plastic sprues and Walthers piping kits. Because the facility sits in the background, I am not planning on super-detailing it.

You're brewing up a nice scene, Jim.
Ryan, your reefer units are, ahem, cool.

Been working on these for a few years. A scratchbuilt New York Harbor stone scow. Finally pushed on and got them progressed some more. A scratchbuilt carfloat. Last time I counted I was going to have something like 1200 pieces of styrene into it. Designed and printed new cleats, as well as the half frogs for the ends. Drew up and printed some quick corner bitts for an AMB barge. The cast resin ones it came with were totally unusable. Last year I made a workbench organizer. I changed some things in it, and drew it in CAD and printed it on the FDM. Very happy with this little thing.

Ryan those Adirondacks are awesome! Thanks! Didn't turn out as perfect on this one but still these are so much better than the Shapeways prints I did before that I'm replacing all of the printed sideframes in my fleet. I managed to get this painted before getting my call: Needs decals but it's starting to come together.

Noted, hopefully remembered. They make for good-looking tanks and they aren't like other available model tank solutions. by the by - this is going to be a great background for equipment photographs.

Great examples on this "Sunday" of useful 3D printing. It looks like the future is soon.

Ryan,
I really like those Adirondack side frames! You are correct I may be replacing the set I have for the new ones. They are awesome compared to the Shapeways set I got from you. Between those and the Triple clasp GSC's your printing is very nice with the new printer.

Those sideframes look incredible compared to the shapeways one's i have. Wanna print up some HTC triple clasp sideframes with roller bearings for athearn rtr truck? wink wink nudge nudge

How about some KATO flexicoils with the same treatment? [/quote] I will second some high cylinder Flexcoils for the Kato SD40! Even triple clasp would be nice so I don't have to keep grafting the Atlas SD35 side frame to the Kato truck.

Unfortunately, there's only so much time in the day! Those sideframes were drawn up a couple years ago.
I'm working on a few things on the HO scale vehicle side of things that are taking up most of my time these days. If anyone knows where to find an old RoadRailer, especially a Mark IV trailer, I'd love to know. I am looking for details on the air ride suspension.

I printed a few more items, or more precisely Marshall with MP Scale Models printed some of my CAD files. I didn't know how much I needed these in my life until now. I also got some details for container chassis carrying reefer containers. This ThermoKing undermount genset and fuel tank are attached to my Gindy container chassis. The genset suffered a little warping, so it's back to the drawing board on that one, but the details came out nice. As a container guy, those reefer units make me go "WOW!" Awesome job!!

I believe the CRHS has a roadrailer somewhere.. it's on a private lot I believe. Unfortunately it's a Mark V so not what you're looking for..
