I’m thinking of going to the show next weekend, but I’ve started to hear some rumors…and actual facts…about participants canceling. Some of the larger manufacturers are bowing out I’m being told. Is there any specific knowledge to be had? The website lists participants, but I don’t see anything about cancelations. Since my primary reason for making the drive to attend is to see the manufacturers, both large and small, the eye candy so to speak, so it would helpful to know who from the list is actually going to be there.

Unless people announce it on their website you really have no way to know who shows up until the show opens. I did one last week and two or three vendors were no-shows just because it was bitterly cold in the morning.
I've always avoided the manufacturers because usually there's a big crowd and you can't see much, and I'm busy hunting for deals.

Who is rumored to have cancelled? They mentioned some vendors can’t get across the border, so I imagine Rapido is out.

See Crew Lounge - Athearn, BLI are two more, along with Rapido.

Another factor is beginning to become a possibility, which is a winter storm that could hit Saturday. Early yet to become too concerned, but worth keeping an eye on.

Looks like the snow starts Friday night and goes into Sunday. Looks like I'll be behind the snow blower and shoveling instead. Next year....

It's a 2.5 hr drive for me so I won't be doing that in bad weather. I'll have to contact them and see if they will honor a Saturday ticket on Sunday.

They said on their site more news about the weekend is coming later this week. I would be shocked if they don't allow for this. Also, I thought the tickets were just a 1 or 2 day, and didn't reflect actual days?

MA is better prepared for snow than DE is, which is in turn better prepared that, say VA. I'm rolling north tomorrow PM. Not worried about a few mfrs. pulling the plug, whatever their reason(s) may be. What I am worried about are rumors carrying more weight than they should and the resultant effect.

Just got an email back, they said it's not a problem. You can exchange your tickets at the show office.

Current forecast is for snow starting Friday night and going into Sunday morning with totals of 12-18 inches in the Springfield area plus temps in the single digits (high of 15 I think) and winds up to 40 MPH.
What that will do even if all other vendors show up is wipe attendance right out. Just very hardy locals will go. With snow like that even MA will have a hard time keeping roads cleared, and imagine the parking lot at the Big E with six, eight inches of snow on it. Even if the snow itself is not that bad the wind will keep blowing it back where it's been plowed away from.
I know because there was a year - 17, 18 maybe - where it snowed pretty good going into Saturday, we hit stretches of unplowed road on I-90 across the Berkshires. That year the crowd was way down and the overall was down a good chunk.
I also drove home from the Great Train Expo in Albany in 2019 in a bomb cyclone like this. It took to Little Falls (around 80 miles) before I got to stretches of I-90 plowed enough you could see the road. I had to stop a bunch of times to knock ice off the wipers. The rest areas were not plowed at all and had my van not had a locker rear end I would have been stuck at one for the duration. Big trucks were going full bore even when you couldn't see the road at all. I usually don't even go I-90 but I was afraid I'd get stuck on a two-lane or drive right off it because I couldn't see.
My prediction is a lot of local vendors will pull out too.

The guidance is this storm is tracking east, which would spare the Springfield area from the heaviest of it. Sunday is looking to be nice.
