Almost finished with the next batch to restock, just need to finish assembling and packaging them. Trucks without wheelsets won't be up yet- that probably sounds funny since they're less work to make, but I do still have to test wheelsets in them to make sure they roll. I'd say somewhere around 5% of them as printed don't roll freely, and they either take a little rework or get tossed. Wouldn't want to fly blind and stick someone with those. I respect the grind. Testing each truck sounds pretty intense. What printer are you using to create these trucks? I have some experience with Anycubic resin printers, but how are you designing the trucks to accept the needlepoint axles? With regular plastic trucks, you spread the sideframes to get the wheelset in, but how do you avoid shattering the 3D printed resin? I've found 3D printed resin to be much more brittle than styrene or delrin. Are the trucks assembled around the wheelset from multiple pieces? I've done some trucks that use the Tangent spinning roller bearing axles to get around this issue, but obviously it wouldn't work for solid-bearing trucks or those where the axle can't drop out from the bottom.

I've done some trucks that use the Tangent spinning roller bearing axles to get around this issue, but obviously it wouldn't work for solid-bearing trucks or those where the axle can't drop out from the bottom. The first batch was all printed 4 at a time on my Anycubic Photon, but these and probably all future ones on my Elegoo Saturn. There doesn't really seem to be any difference between the two at the end of the day, but now I can do 16-20 at a time, in 80% of the time. When I first started testing whether I could make trucks, I was making 3-piece trucks with a square pin going into the bolster to hold the sideframe on. Even still it was hard to assemble them square, so I decided to test them as a single piece. Pretty much any model truck is wider than prototype already, and the compromise I made was to go just slightly wider so less of the axle ends stick into the sideframe. That lets the little bit of flex the resin does offer cover what's needed. I don't suggest adding and removing wheelsets any more often than necessary to avoid cracking them, but then again I've bent them to breaking on purpose many times and some of them almost refuse to snap.

I've not understood the request for no wheelsets. Since you are including Tangent or Moloco wheelsets I'm not sure what wheelsets (I) could use in plain side frames that would be better? Plus it seems that the possibility of (me) breaking the side frames is very real.

But then I noticed on the website that the trucks come with these standard! But I'm still hopeful for a cheaper shipping option.

100% understand the cheaper shipping option. Seems like other countries can get things into the US a lot cheaper than we can get them out. I'll do a little research.

Question; is it worth popping the wheelsets out of these truck frames for paint and weathering or would it risk breaking the truck frames? I look forward to the next time these are available.

Shouldn't be any risk, just try to flex as little as possible. You won't break them if you flex a bit more than that, but aiming for the minimum ensures you'll be fine.

Thanks Alex and anyone else who ordered! I wasn't expecting to put those trucks up last night and have one of them be sold out by the time I woke up today!
All other trucks are back in stock (for now!), please bear with me as I work on the no wheelset option, as well as some new truck styles!

Aw man, I missed out on the converted s2s again? I did order a pair of the 50 ton converted trucks, so I'm happy about those.

Excellent, just placed an order! Btw, I had previously ordered a pair of the 50 ton converted RB trucks...they are super nice! The wheelsets rolls amazingly freely, not that I was expecting them to drag but...yeah! I elected to paint and weather that set with the wheels in place, vs attempting to pull them out. I still need another coat of weathering before fitting them under a modernized 40' boxcar but I am very impressed so far. Can't wait to stick those 100 ton converted trucks under a pair of Atlas ACF Whalebellies!

Hallelujah! I got an order in before the 100T trucks sold out. I have no idea how I'm going to use them. Two of the "antique" porta potties are going to find a home really soon.
