I would like to update my TCS UWT-100 firmware to the latest version. After downloading the Depot software, logging in and following the procedure in the instructions on the website about a dozen times I have had no success. The throttle connects to my WIFI network as does my computer, but I get a NO LCC Connection error. According to the TCS instructions my anti virus software could be the problem. I am running Avast anti virus software. I have set the software to accept the Depot software App and I disabled my firewall. No luck.
I have a Digitrax DCS 51 and Digitrax LNWI router which work great. I turned off the command station and router while trying to update the throttle.
I contacted TCS support. They told me to read the instructions.
Can any one help?
Thanks
John

I expect another option is to send the thing in to TCS, and let them do it. Yeah, it's time and money, but presumably it gets done; and you don't have to figure out how to do it.

Ed
I thought about your idea to return it to TCS. The setup I have works just fine and I like it, but my DCS 51 is getting old and I am looking to replace it in the near future. I was thinking of the new TCS command station when it becomes available. If it is this difficult to update TCS products I may simply go back to Digitrax for a new Zepher. I should not have to alter software on my computer to get TCS software to work. The program works up to point 4 Where it asks for SSID and IP information. The program will not recognize my throttle. The throttle hooks up to my WIFI network just fine but will not communicate with the program. I get a no LCC connection error on my throttle.
I am not going to waste any more of my time. I will simply look for another command station for my TCS throttle in the future.
Thanks
John

Thanks John I purchased the combo deal while TCS was offering it for the UWT-100 and UWT-50 and have an old Digitrax Chief command station and LWNI adaptor but am also thinking about replacing with the TCS command station later. It's allegedly due this August assuming they can release it on-time. I'd expect the UWT-50's should be shipping out any time now.

I've not experienced any problems with the throttles being unable to find my wifi, but I've tripped myself up a couple times by assuming that because the Depot software was addressing me by name that I was already logged into TCS' Depot site, when that wasn't the case. Since you have to be actively logged in to your TCS Depot account when you try to do the update, this is an important distinction.
----
My UWT-50s arrived Wednesday, so I took them and an LNWI transceiver over to the Road Show layout for our work session that evening. Another guy and I used them in Yard Mode for a couple of hours to clear out a plugged Fiddle Yard-- nearly every train on the railroad arrived back during the last ten minutes of last Sunday's session and I'd been holding down the job solo.
We both found the throttles comfortable and intuitive to use. We did not experience any dropped commands.
I went back this afternoon and installed a permanent LNWI to support these throttles and a ProtoThrottle. We'll start using the TCS throttles to augment our UT4Rs at our "short" session this Wednesday night.
The UWT-100 and the two UWT-50s have worked flawlessly with my DCS51 Zephyr at home and our 1998-era DCS100 Chief on the Road Show layout.
I'm considering the upcoming TCS CS-105 for my next home model railroad as I intend to use LCC to automate some portion of my staging and RailCom looks like it'll be useful for keeping track of what is on each track back there.

I'd guess that if any support person was as dismissive as that, I'd be slowly moving away from any further investment in their products. That sounds like recent experiences with the Postal "Service", mmmmm just go back home and do it on the internet...

This is what I did to upgrade my UWT-100. Fired up TCS Depot, followed the instructions to the letter and it went flawlessly.

What did you do to get TCS Depot to work around your anti virus software?

Nothing special, I use Norton and TCS Depot was downloaded and installed without problem.
