Guess I'll start
My Athearn RTR SD40. I managed to find a replacement rear handrail off a spare ST SD40-2 shell I have. Already added a loksound 5, LEDs, wipers, lift rings, lines for the brake cylinders (probably too thin wire, I used whatever size is used for grabs), notched the pilots and added later cut levers. Currently sidelined as the motor decided to only work in one direction after all the upgrades (genesis motor is on the way). The classlights are now bugging me and i'll probably just silver sharpie them in.
Weathered my Scaletrains finger flat. Load is from protoloads. Entirely acrylic washes. I used raw umber a lit to tone down the yellow, but would take some off the black areas by using a microbrush with some 70% alcohol. When I took the picture I didn't realize I had the trucks on backwards, or it wasn't quite on the tracks.

Just use fiberoptic strands to luminate the class lights. Light the ends with a lighter off the end (1cm) just for a second...let it melt...hold it down wards so it melts an "even" round drop on the end of the strand. It should only be slightly bigger than the strand. You might have to try it a couple of times so you get the right shape. It took me 20+... But I got the shakes...lol. Also when you drill it out make sure you drill slow and don't take out the lens seal detail on the shell like I seam to each time!! Sometimes you find jewels small enough at Michaels art store. But mostly eBay now... Hope this helps bro... Dave.

Not getting a lot done of late, too much work and we are finishing the basement, did shoot a few pics tho. Repainted F60. Rapido F30 repaint with a Trainworks trailer. Kadee PS1, modified the sill. A Brekina Kenworth, I toned this down a little by painting out or removing some of the excessive chrome bits.

A couple members had expressed interest in seeing my Bowser SD40-3 when I put it back together, so here it is, switching my rack and intermodal train on the club layout. For control and sound, I installed a Tsunami2 decoder and one of Athearn's big dual cube speakers. It sounds awesome. I also replaced the RCL whip antennas with fine hairbrush bristles, and added a couple of Details West mini Sinclairs. This model was also missing the bell when I opened the box, so I got a Cal Scale E-bell and installed it. Strictly speaking it should be under the first handrail stanchion on the conductor's side and the bell bracket on the cab should be vacant, but I fudged it a bit and attached it above the cab anyway. A second-generation GMD built unit just looks wrong without it there, IMO. One front ditchlight went bad so I also pulled the factory LEDs and lenses and replaced them with the Athearn pre-wired, pre-lensed LEDs. Finally, I put on Kadee 118s with the top shelf removed to finish it off.

Here are this weeks accomplishments: IMWX 1937 AAR Boxcar kit, substituted a Des Plaines Hobbies Viking Roof for the kit supplied roof along with Yarmouth Models sill steps in place of the plastic ones. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Tuscan and Black Paints and lettered with K4 Decals. Car was in general service on the NKP as I am trying to expand my fleet of NKP rolling stock. Next, Kadee PS 2003CF Covered Hopper painted with Scalecoat II MofW Gray paint and lettered with decals from the Ann Arbor Historical Society. Car was originally purchased for use at the Dundee MI cement plant as there production sky rocketed with the building of the Interstate Highway System, after that boom subsided the cars were assigned to Yuma, MI hauling casting sand for the Ford Brook Park engine plant and the AA had to supply 20 cars of sand a day. A pair of Rapido FA-2's in Ann Arbor paint with a freight headed up by sand cars from the Yuma, MI sand pit runing on the Stronsville Club layout. Thanks for looking, Rick Jesionowski

In between redesigning the track plan on my two modules, I worked on my 6th Southern Pacific SD9. Pre Walthers P2K with the too light stock painting. Instead of the usual paint stripping I'm going to try to weather it as a faded unit. No sound decoder and only working front lights as it is going to be in a lash up of SD's. Greetings from a lonely modeler in a land with no trains, modelrailroaders and hobbyshops! :-)

Thanks, that is cool for letting me know. I live in Hafnarfjörður, close to Reykjavik. What forum is that? I've checked around for other modelers, but apart from ship, plane and car guys no modelrail addicts around.
